For a long time the elite culture’s hostility toward Christian expression has been in the news. Nice to hear some stories of the other side challenging them — and winning.

Could you imagine going to jail for your faith? A recent report warns that it could happen.

CBN News investigated the growing wave of hostility to Christianity in America that’s led to hundreds of court cases.

No Religion Allowed
Angela Hildenbrand faced the very real possibility of going to jail for her faith. The trouble began when a federal judge ruled that no one at her Texas high school could pray or even use words like prayer or amen during the 2011 graduation ceremonies.

As class valedictorian, Hildenbrand felt God deserved the praise, even if it meant jail for her.

“I was definitely preparing myself to have to make that sort of tough decision and mentally prepare myself for what well could be coming next,” she told CBN News.

Hildenbrand’s case is just one of more than 640 cases of religious hostility cited in a new report by the Liberty Institute. General Counsel Jeff Mateer, who takes on many of these cases, helped put the survey together.

“The atheists and the secularists are well-organized and they’re well-funded,” the Liberty Institute attorney told CBN News.

“The rate of hostility to people of faith is overwhelming,” he said. “It’s increasing. Every day, we’re getting calls.”

It is heartbreaking, and yet, I know so many luke warm Christians (and we all know what Jesus thought of them) who are just interested in being comfortable and entertained at church. My former pastor of 16 years is now one of Obama’s spiritual advisors, so depressing. I know lots of really committed Christians that haven’t taken a stand and still attend my former church, even though they are being shepherded by a wolf in sheep’s clothing, who will vote for Obama again, whose very party BOOED GOD!!! Much deception flying. Pray for wisdom.

The democrat convention thrice denied God. That’s pretty clear to me. If the country elects Obama they have made allegiance with deniers of God.

Christians aren’t being persecuted here in America. They seem to be of the opinion that not being able to force people at a public event to listen to a prayer to Jesus is somehow an attack on their faith. It’s not. How would you feel if a student wanted to offer a prayer to Allah at a school event? I’d guess you’d all be pretty upset & screaming about how sharia is taking over or something. So let’s leave prayer out of the public arena. By the way didn’t Jesus say to pray in PRIVATE and not in public “like the hypocrites do”?

  YOU miss the mark no one pushes god on anyone.First you have to be chosen by Him to be his Follower.Look at all the things pushed on Christians xxx movies on tv. Homosexuals making out on Tv, ALL the movies using god name invain and got some one drinking in it, How about all ungodly subjests in schools that the kids have to take. Marrage is more about the Family and it is about couples,, By the way GOD created marrage not a judge .So how does He or they have a right to change it. GOV. pushing abortion on are kid’s now they don’t need parents permission to get one . Isn’t that taking away rights away from the parents? Christians take nothing away from the UNGODLY their deeds are best done in a dark ally anyway.

    Gee judgmental much? Here’s an idea since you are so worried about the effect of TV & movies on good God-fearing christians. Don’t watch TV and don’t go to movies! Problem solved! And yeah, you do push christianity on people when you try to do prayers to Jesus at a public event. You say God created marriage? Really? Give me the Bible verse where it says God performed a wedding ceremony on Adam and Eve. You can’t? Darn! And please explain how gay marriage will effect your heterosexual marriage. (Here’s a clue—-it won’t.) This is almost too easy.

Athiests and anti-religious bigots are going to have one “hell” of a time suppressing my cage-fighting Christian boys. They love giving a good beating to anyone who needs one.

I don’t intend to ‘show-off’, but have the right to tell how I express my Faith in public. At least twice a month I prayed the rosary at a Mary-statue downtown(not in Winter) and hang sign “Whether glad, sad or wary, stay a while, say a Hail Mary”..Five persons came and said a prayer, others just came and touched the statue. I started, alone, a May procession. The 7th time (2005) some persons joined me. In 2008, lady took over(I was 88). Result: fine procession, 50 people walking, praying, singing to a church for Mary-crowning.Always make sign of cross before eating in restaurant, whether alone or with others who don’t. For several years, always wear wooden 3 cm cross over my sweater for every one to see. Now in this ‘old people’ home, am the only one between 80 persons to always make sign of cross before eating. In Turnhout (Belgium) in 2004, prayed at Sacred Heart statue on the central marketplace. It was in bad shape, held together with 5 metal bands, Back in Canada, wrote to 100+addres-ses and the Mayor there, the statue had to be repaired. It was fully repaired in 2006. Our church build 3 buildings over 25 years, but did not replace the communion-rail; so I give only 25 cents or less till we get it back for us to kneel and to receive on tongue (like before 1963). And so on, trying to strengthen our Faith. Every parish should have a cross or statue outside, for every parishioner to pray there at least once a year. People on pension can go and pray there. Why does every KoC & CWL member not come once a year to pray in public ? Ashamed ? God may be ashamed about you ? Always receive H.Host on tongue. God wants to come in your heart, not in your hand. I never received in hand, tho 2 priests tried to open my hands. Why don’t our bishops ask us to receive on tongue ? Our Holy Father the Pope likes us to receive on tongue.
