What The…?: Kindergarteners To Celebrate Homosexual History

Broward County School Board members on Wednesday are expected to approve a formal resolution in support of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month, which takes place every October.

The LGBT History Month tradition, started in 1994 by a Missouri high school teacher, has previously been recognized and promoted by a wide assortment of politicians, including members of Congress and Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia. In all of Philadelphia’s municipal buildings, for example, a rainbow flag is flown alongside the U.S. flag every October.

Honoring gay history within the realm of K-12 education is still a groundbreaking (and potentially controversial) public statement. Unlike California, which last year added LGBT history to the state’s education curriculum, Broward’s resolution is nonbinding, and largely symbolic.

Tell the teacher that unfortunately The month of October is already taken on your family calendar for the celebration of those famous for Perjurey, November is occupied for those who have benefitted the human condition by the commission of wilful murder, with emphasis on serial killers. December is taken for celebrating those who have raised Envy and Sloth to giddy heights, particularly the ProgressiveCommunist American Party formerly called the Democratic Party, while January touts Adulterers of all sexual persuations including 2 spirited folk whoever the heck they are.February is of course Black History Month. March is for notable drunkards, many of whom use colorful speech accented with brogues and praise St Patrick for didn’t he have a taste for the creature as well as they have. That leaves the remaining months. When we next hold a family meeting we will be happy to consider Sodomy but it will have stiff competition, ( ( pardon the play on words ) with Cannibalism which seems to have made a comeback in recent years. Whatever the outcome we will send notices to the local papers as to what we choose. So little Johnny and Jill will be carrying Bibles to swear to their friends about anything that can be regarded as lying under Oath and will refrain from all celebrations in the months mentioned above.
