Fly, Big Bird, Fly

Yes, my obsessive compulsive disorder has kicked in as you will see again in my repetitive warnings regarding our fiscal cliff – but it is an important issue that must be dealt with.

Following this campaign season I am reminded of the story of Solomon and the two women staking claim to a child they both said to be theirs. Solomon ordered for the child to be cut into two and divvied up between the women. One woman agreed, which ultimately proved she was not the mother because she was okay with the child being killed.

See where I’m headed with this? The women are the Democratic Party and Republican Party but unfortunately in this case both are willing to let the kid (a.k.a. USA) die. Gotcha. I bet you thought I was only going to slam the liberals on this subject.

Granted the Democrats appear to want the death to happen much faster by the way of a guillotine and the Republicans are fine with a longer slower bout with a painful cancer that eventually ends our republic. I’ve been a Republican ever since I could vote, so when I refer to Republicans I mean the party line people and not the freedom loving Constitutionalist Republicans with a Libertarianesque limited government belief system like my own.

Nobody seems to be willing to make the real cuts needed. We have got to get back to the Constitution. The founding fathers had such an incredible foresight into the future and put things in place to ensure a limited role of the federal government. Unfortunately very few politicians have the knowledge or simply don’t give a rat’s behind about the Constitution. We as citizens also fail to hold our politicians accountable.

Just think of the outcry that occurred when it was thrown out there to end the subsidy to PBS. Come on people, there is no justification for federal funding to PBS. I’m not saying that we should kill Big Bird but we should get him off food stamps. You know he is a 43 year old grown up bird for goodness sake! If he can’t fly on his own by now then there is something fundamentally wrong.

Do me a favor. The next time you have the urge to waste time playing Angry Birds, instead download the free Constitution app and do a little reading. This will give you the understanding of what the proper role of government should be and hopefully give you some discernment to be able call BS on the political pandering.
