When Matt Drudge said there was a major video drop coming on Tuesday night, I was excited. Was this the October Surprise we had been promised? Was it going to be the Khalidi tapes, at last? Maybe something on Fast & Furious or more on Libya?
Then, sadly, I grew skeptical. It’s only October 2nd, the first debate isn’t for another 24 hours. That would give the president three debates and over a whole month to spin whatever came out against him. It couldn’t be that big of an October Surprise.
That being said, if this video of President Obama is the October Surprise, I’m a wee bit underwhelmed. Yes, he’s obviously pandering to the crowd. How else do you explain how a guy who grew up in Hawaii and Indonesia, who went to Ivy League schools and has lived in Chicago most of his life manages to cop a Southern accent? How else do you explain how someone who’s rarely seen going to church during his White House tenure claims that, “sometimes the Spirit moves me” to a group of African-American pastors?
It’s nearly 40 minutes of the same old trite remarks: raise the living wage (whatever that is), raise the minimum wage (way to kill small businesses, genius), everyone should go to college, and those evil predatory lenders who are out to thwart poor people just trying to pursue the American Dream. Sprinkled amongst that are complaints about New Orleans residents being mistreated post-Katrina and how the Rodney King riots had been brewing for quite a while.
But this is nothing new.
If you’ve been following the news for any amount of time, this is not a new face for our president. The class warfare/race warfare/gender warfare drum has been beating for the last few months. Does anyone honestly think Vice President Biden’s “they gonna put y’all back in chains” line was a gaffe?
Between the War on Women and the War on the Middle Class, I’m surprised they haven’t found time to declare war via race groups yet. I guess they’re too busy trying to tamp down Libya and our First Amendment problems first. And if you’ve seen Dinesh D’Souza’s Obama’s America: 2016, then this is certainly nothing new. Race plays a vital part in Obama’s life and his political career.
Beyond that, this is straight up Alinsky; these are Obama’s community organizer roots coming out. As Alinsky wrote, “The organizer dedicated to changing the life of a particular community must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities to the point of overt expression.” (Rules for Radicals, p. 102).
Ladies and gentlemen, Americans of every race and gender, we are being used for one purpose, and one purpose alone: to radically reorganize the American way of life. And I will be surprised if this is news to anyone.
Perhaps my biggest beef with the speech was when President Obama talked about Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans residents, comparing it to September 11th and New York City. Beyond just blatantly ignoring the fact that the federal government had, indeed, sent money multiple times with no strings attached for the completely illogical purpose of rebuilding a city below sea level, he compared a hurricane where people had a week’s notice to a terrorist attack that hit New York residents with no warning.
At the time Katrina hit, I was living in Deep East Texas. I remember the warnings and watching the news in the days leading up to the storm. It was no surprise that it was going to be a massive hurricane; the surprise turned out to be how inept the city and state government was (and how people didn’t heed evacuation warnings).
I’m not saying this video won’t be useful. If someone is undecided or if they’re open-minded enough to believe that Obama isn’t the victim of a Republican Congress that he portrays himself to be, then please show them this video. The mask does slip—a lot—and it might sway them.
Let’s face it, though: President Obama could kill a kitten in front of a live studio audience on The View, and Anderson Cooper, Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews would insist the kitten had it coming (it was probably a racist Hayekian kitten!). Vice President Biden could pull an Anthony Weiner, and not only would his wife stand by him, but most of the reporters would talk about how awesome he is. And, yes, I’m sorry for just giving you that visual. The media has betrayed their commitment to being unbiased and they will not expose Obama’s background.
In fact, perhaps the biggest October Surprise would be Mitt Romney (or his surrogates) using this information and pounding it relentlessly home for the next month. If he goes John McCain and refuses to get his hands dirty—or to allow his surrogates to do so—then he doesn’t want or deserve the White House.

"Doug Giles and his team over at ClashDaily.com cut through the crap to expose what have become modern day human slaughter houses: gun free zones. Their candid arguments about allowing teachers to protect themselves and the students in their care through concealed carry should be taken seriously. As a result maybe, just maybe, we’ll be able to save some lives someday rather than call the cops to report the body count." - Katie Pavlich. "There were many lessons to draw from the horrific Newtown, CT school shooting. Unfortunately, most of the media and political Left came up with the wrong ones. But not Doug Giles and his writers over at ClashDaily.com. In the wake of this horror, they offered a robust defense of American citizens' right to bear arms and common sense answers to societal violence. The Sandy Hook Massacre: When Seconds Count, the Police are Minutes Away is a great resource for those interested in this vital, Constitutional issue." - S.E.
