The late 1800’s brought forth a new thinking in regard to the founding of our nation. Led by Woodrow Wilson and others, the Progressive movement was established. The reasoning behind this movement was the idea that society had outgrown the social scope envisioned by the founders. Wilson often spoke of the Checks and Balances within the Constitution, that they hampered the effective administration of government; and those restrictions necessarily must be removed to effect government; in particular, executive control of socio-economic conditions.
Why? They had rejected the idea that God had entitled man to those cherished unalienable rights. They believed that only governments can effectively administer to the needs of the people, therefore it is government that entitles man to his rights. Hence, man owes all to society as a whole, individualism is counter intuitive.
We still see this today. Liberal/Progressive dissolution of our fundamental rights as individuals stifles religious freedoms, restricts progress, hampers productive society, and aims to control every aspect of our lives. The Founders believed that God, not government, created us with the ability to strive for success. They intended to limit government to avoid the destruction of our God given rights we now see.
I believe it is our duty, as individuals, to help our fellow man. Providing opportunity for everyone is paramount to God’s plan for the rights granted us … as individuals. Government has taken away the individual right to help his fellow man and mandated it by legislation. And because Progressives took God out of the equation you no longer have a moral choice, only a demand from society as a whole to do your part for that society. The issue they dodge is that no one can legislate morality but GOD. We now can boil the matter down to simple terms. Think about this as you ponder whom you choose to elect, whether for president or local office.
Liberal/Progressivism has stripped you of your God given morality. You are no longer an individual created by God. You exist solely for the state not the God who created you.
God will help us change it all back by returning Him to his rightful place in our lives!
