If Jesus did not want humanity to have the option of having weapons, He never would have allowed the Israelites to carry weapons, or endorse their victories against the enemies of God. Also Bob Costas is just a man, subject to all the human frailties we all are, thus clouding his judgement – making his credibility questionable vs that of the Divine nature of God, which is incapable of error.

If God didn’t want us to carry guns, why did He give us a trigger finger?

Jesus gives me my rights to protect myself from evil minded criminals. If guns were never invented, then I’d carry a sward. My 80 year old Mother has a loaded shotgun at her bedside and a pistol in her nightstand. If a Man can kill me with his bare hands, a gun would stop him before he could have the chance.. Thank you Jesus for your Blessings of freedom to protect myself..

When Jesus walked among us those who traveled with him did not need weapons. When
he was taken from us it fell upon each of us to provide for and protect ourselve and our
families from our enemies. In bibilical time the ment having a good staff or sword. I,
personally, think that he ment for us to have the ability to defend ourselves but not to
violate the 10 commandments. In that line of though if another makes war upon us
then we must smite our enemies and render them harmless. I carry a weapon and
keep them at home, clean, loaded and accesiable if need be. I teach my children, grand
children and great grand children to respect firearms and treat them as though they
are always loaded. I encourage them to come to the range with me and practice using
them to hunt to put food on the table.

the old KJ Bible got it wrong.God forbids MURDER not killing to save a life.if that were the case then we would still be slaves to the crown.the only Crown i will be a slave to is the one my KING wears.HIS name in modern English is JESUS CHRIST

      • Jane18

Jerry, there are several words and phrases that were interpreted wrong. Thou shall not kill, is supposed to be Thou shall do no murder(premeditated and/or criminal homicide). And we were supposed to execute anyone that committed this act. Did you know a rapist is also supposed to be executed? How about the word “easter”? The Greek word is supposed to be Passover. Haven’t you read? “JESUS became our Passover”? The word easter comes from Ishtar, a pagan fertility goddess!! One more thing, JESUS was not born anywhere near December 25th, but the conception was about that time. HE acually was born near the end of September(how about that time of the year being Virgo, sign of the Virgin? Plus that is also the time for the Feast of the Tabernacles….sooooo interesting, isn’t it?

I believe that it is our duty and obligation to be prepared and do our best in every situation in life. This obligation extends toward being responsible for the greater good in every area of purchase live. For me, I am convinced the the greater good and my best is to always be prepared to protect myself and my family from any harm. I do my best in this and then let God do the rest.
If Jesus were here today I know that he would endorse the same as he is coming back as The Lion of the Tribe of Judas, NOT as the Lamb. That is no pacifist.
Those of you that want to be pacifist ought not to judge us that would fight against evil. Just don’t call anyone when you are a victim.

  • Brian P.

It’s also worth noting in John 18 when Jesus was betrayed in the garden, His disciple, Simon Peter, pulled out his sword and cut a guards ear off. These disciples had been with Jesus for years at this point and never did he tell them to disarm.

What does God command men to do in 1 Timothy 5? Provide for their families. How do you provide for your family if you’re willing to do nothing to those who would harm them? Providing includes protection. Does God contradict himself? No He doesn’t. He does not order men to provide (also protect) their families from evil doers and then condemn the use of a common sense means of doing so. The Word commands not to MURDER. Killing in self defense is not murder legally or in God’s eyes. As a Christian man, I have a duty to stand for those who cannot. Is it better to just watch a degenerate lunatic rape my daughter or wife or to protect them by blowing the scum’s brains out? Are we to just let evil have its way? I don’t think so.

I will take whatever judgment my Creator hands down by choosing the armed option. That being my choice of action, carrying a firearm and regular training are required for the highest likelihood of carrying out my duty successfully.
Finally, the U.S. Constitution was a Divinely inspired document. It is not debateable that this country would not exist, but by the hand of Almighty God. Several Founders essentially state this in their own writings. This never before seen gathering of some of the most deeply spiritual, intellectually gifted and deep thinkers in one location penned a beautiful clause called the 2nd Amendment in the Bill Of Rights that simply reinforced and publicly stated the intention of Scripture. Amen!

i like your comment.i would like to add that Jesus told Peter to put away his sword,he did not tell him to get rid of it.He did say –those who live by the sword shall also die by the sword.—now before all of you people who never read the Bible don’t start jumping up and down.what Jesus stated was two fold.one!thugs will die who live violent lives.two!just as important our weapons for self defense are never,i repeat never are they to be used to intimidate someone into believing like you do.that is just one reason the United States of America defeated the mightiest army in the world.now live with it,or die with out it, your call.this is for those who read this, not meant for you in my reply.good job!!

Instead of WWJD… let’s ask this question of our timid ‘manscaped’ (Bob Costas like) opponents: What would Satan have us do?

Satan would have us disarmed, Satan sends the attacker and… Satan is the tyrant.

“But if any provide not for his own and especially for those of his own house he has denied his faith and is worse than an infidel” 1 Timothy 5:8.

That includes protection…. from Satan’s spawn at all times.

    JESUS WAS/IS THE PEACE MAKER.
HE IS NOT THE “CARRY A PIECE MAKER”!
He brought a new light into the world and it wasn’t gun powder.
“You can not enter the Kingdom of Heaven except through the eyes of a child!”

There are nearly 300,000,000 weapons in America now.
Will we finally feel safer when there are 500,000,000?
    1,000,000,000?

    • Stephen Ray Hale

There are 300,000,000 weapons in America now – and too many places we cannot carry them but leave them home so our children can get to them or in the car where the thieves can steal them. I will feel safer when the entire population of America can carry ONE weapon on them safely everywhere.

    • 313Hunter

Re: ZagoZana’s peacemaker, Did Jesus come to bring peace or not?

No There will only be Peace after the Second Coming of Christ!!!

(Matthew 10:34-36) – “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.”

(Luke 12:51,52) – “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two, and two against three…”

(Luke 22:36) – “And He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it along, likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one.”

      • St. Patch

The first two instances are pointing forward to the division between those of the Jewish faith who will claim Christ and ultimately be kicked from the synagogue and fellowship. The last is humorously misunderstood by the disciples to be literal, evidenced by Jesus’ response and the themes of Luke.
None of these are pointing towards literal violence or our cultural 2nd amendment debate.

        • jerry sweet

want to bet.it is in psalm 149 and at least 3 other places.Thats old testament you say.Well now Jesus said i have not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.you have bought into theLIE we now do not have to provide for or protect our loved ones.the same Bible you try and spout states if a man does not care for his family provide/protect,HE is looked at as an infidel/unbeliever and God will throw that man into HELL>i suggest before you spout any more scripture (taken) completely out of context, you study more of the literal plain sense meaning of it.try and keep your own bias out of it..you just might learn something.

    • jerry sweet

i whole lot safer than without them.Jesus told Peter and John to arm themselves(Luke 22 verse 36 and following).read your bible in the context in which it was written.ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the Bible thru HIS eyes.after all HE had it written. put the scripture in its proper context in which it was written.

  • 1JBRice1

I am a Christian and I totally agree with this article. It’s entertaining, but true. We have to be able to protect ourselves from criminals as well as politicians.

  • phil

I will listen to JUSUS. Thank YOU.

  • St. Patch

Ok, each of these points are worth a response because they highlight our current problems of 1. We absolutely suck at reading the Bible, and 2. We’re American before we are Christian.

Firstly, in the temple, it never implies the whip was for those who were selling, actually something different. In fact, the most detailed passage with the whip states quite clearly, “So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
He wasn’t beating the money changers, he was herding animals out of there! In other accounts, the whip isn’t even mentioned (because the animals weren’t), only the overturning of the tables. There is no reason to believe Jesus beat down or killed anyone (which are 2 different things by the way), and any attempt to say so may be something, but it ain’t scriptural.

Secondly, our Americanism comes out, we see the angels as Jesus’ own personal airstrike, HOWEVER- the one thing the angels were used for as far as Jesus was concerned was to not save himself, either after fasting, or from the cross. So, if we want to cast them as our own weaponry, the lesson here has to be we are not to use them, even for our own protection. This is the problem with casting scripture this way.

Lastly, this is the dumbest one of all, and here’s why. Jesus uses the language of swords and violence metaphorically, often (I have not come to bring peace, but a sword). The gospel writers always cast Jesus of knowing what is to come and the trials the church would face. Also, the recurring theme is the disciples not understanding what Jesus is talking about. Think about this exchange:
Jesus: You all had better buy weapons and prepare, there’s a fight coming.
    Disciples: Here are 2 swords!
Jesus: *sigh*… that’s enough. come on.
If he was talking about a literal fight, 2 swords are laughable! The comedy is the disciples are too dumb to understand the things of which Jesus speaks! How ironic that we’re using this text 2000 years later to try to justify literal violence!!!
And the one time one of those disciples does use a sword, does he get commended for heeding Jesus’ words?! NO!! He gets rebuked, and the lifestyle of violence, of living by the sword, gets disowned.

Most Christians have always been pacifists. Fact. But like many others that don’t fit into our American ethos, we choose to ignore it.
But the 3 cases above are, at least from my view, inarguable.

    • Stephen Ray Hale

As the Son of God, the second part of the Trinity, Jesus was the Angel of God who carried a sword and protected Israel from the time of Moses on.

      • St. Patch

Jesus didn’t carry a sword, and the “Angel of the Lord” has never been interpreted as ‘the son,’

    • johnmontanez

St. Patch it is you who needs to take a nice reading with comprehension course. When was he speaking metaphorically? I’m sure you agree he was speaking literally in Luke 10:4 when he said, “Take no purse with you, no haversack, no sandals” . But in Luke 22:36 when he says, “… now if you have a purse, take it, and the same with a haversack; if you have no sword, sell your cloak and buy one” In the later verse he is making direct reference to what he said in the previous verse. If the intent of the first verse was literal, as indicated by what he says in this verse, “He said to them, ‘When I sent you out without purse or haversack or sandals were you short of anything?” Why then why do you want to make it metaphorical? Here is the whole thing in context.

He said to them, 35 “When I sent you out without purse or haversack or sandals were you short of anything?” 36 “No, nothing,” they said. He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and the same with a haversack; if you have no sword, sell your cloak and buy one, 37 because I tell you these words of scripture are destined to be fulfilled in me: He was counted as one of the rebellious. Yes, what it says about me is even now reaching its fulfillment.” 38 They said, “Lord, here are two swords.” He said to them, “That is enough!” (Luk 22:35-38 NJB)

While Jesus walked the earth, his disciples were under his protection, he was leaving and he clearly stated “The Prince of this Earth commeth” meaning satan. Jesus was no wuss. Do you let an animal tear your throat out? Do you allow an attack on the defenseless innocents? You are obligated by all the ancient scriptures including the Bhagavid Gita to fight evil, in yourself and in the world, to defend justice. That is why there has always been a warrior and a warrior code. In Hindu Scripture, the warrior is the highest spiritual calling next to the God realized Brahmin. Do your part in righteousness and leave the outcome to God.

      • St Patch

Still stands the question, If he was talking about a literal fight, 2 swords are laughable! The comedy is the disciples are too dumb to understand the things of which Jesus speaks. And the one time one of those disciples does use a sword, does he get commended for heeding Jesus’ words?! NO!! He gets rebuked, and the lifestyle of violence, of living by the sword, gets disowned.

        • Stephen Ray Hale

Using the sword to advance Christianity was not the way of Christ then and even now, and that is why Peter was rebuked for brandishing his sword as a soldier instead of “in his (its) place” as a defensive weapon as a normal citizen. The soldier who CAN brandish his weapon is one who lives by the sword, and one that can die by the sword, that cannot be said of a normal citizen, though a citizen CAN be called up being the force of the community like we consider the militia today (not the modern type of private army).

    • Phoenomagus

And only one question for the misguided and overly pacifist: Which would be the greater sin? Failing to forgive the person bringing harm to those you love? Or failing to protect those you love? Another answer that can only be inarguable.

      • St Patch

A gun is not the only way to protect those you love. Nor is it any way to go about blamelessly reconciling creation. Christian pacifism is not passive.

        • Phoenomagus

There was never any mention of the means, simply the approach. But then, those that see only their myopic views, without expanding their perspective, are capable of true debate.

          • St. Patch

Your intended contrast was between your perceived benefit of violence and your perceived constraint of pacifism. And, is that inarguable? Perhaps they are both incredibly vital, is not our prayer one that asks, “God, forgive my sins as I forgive those who sin…”

What I would like to know is how gun hatters thank we will be safer. Criminals will always have guns no matter what we do, we can not stop illegal drugs and illegal’s from coming here so how will we stop gun’s from getting in to the hands of criminals? Gun’s keep us safer then not having them. Police can not be everywhere at the same time and by the time they did get to your home one or more family members could be dead. Japan did not invade after Pearl Harbor because they know most Americans had guns.

  • obhfwb

    Go Jesus!

  • T Prager

I think that passage from Luke 22:36-38 was put there so Jesus could heal the servant of the High priest after Peter cut off his ear as he needed to make sure Peter had a sword (Luke 22:49-51). You need to understand these things in context. Not use them out of context for your own ends. Guns are just tools as swords were!

    • ImTheNana

When Simon Peter cut off Malchus’ right ear (names here: John 18:10), he did so against the governing authority’s servant. IOW, it would be as if someone shot a police officer who had been sent by the governing authority to arrest that person. It was an improper use of the weapon, not that possession of the weapon was bad. SP thought he was protecting Christ, but Christ was submitting to the governing authority, and healed the ear to correct the wrong in that particular instance. John 18: 11 Jesus told Peter, “Put your sword away! Am I not to drink the cup the Father has given me?”

    • jerry sweet

many ears will be blown off when they come to rape, pillage and murder.those who swore an oath to ALMIGHTY GOD to protect us will be our worst enemies.but then they will have to answer to the judge Jesus Christ.i will never leave my savior out of any thing in my life.as for Nancy Laws comment it may be well intended but it is misplaced.

  • Stephen Ray Hale

    Jesus also
intended the weapon to be CARRIED in a defensive and safe method such as
“in its place”, which, incidentally is the SAFEST place for even a
gun, ON the person, strapped securely in its holster and out of reach of people
of the opposite sex groping it while dancing like that cop whose weapon
discharged when the person he was dancing with apparently tried to manipulate
it. This carrying your gun at all times keeps it out of the hands of your
children at home and for thieves to get at, and the same concerning the car
when you SHOULD carry it on the premises that currently have bulls eyes painted
on them…you know that picture of a gun with slashes through it?

I have a pistol and consider it one of my prize possessions while also having a license to carry and am proud of it. I also believe that it should be the right of any American to carry their gun without fear of it accidently being seen by someone and facing possible consequences. I could go on an on.
    BUT…..
Doug Giles is a heretic who has absolutely no clue what he is talking about when he drags the Bible, Jesus and God into the issue. His mockery of Christ and the scripture is beyond belief. If he really knew Christ and therefore were really a Christian, he would most certainly not be making the kind of ignorant statements that he makes. He has no fear of the Lord I serve and intimately know. And before you jump on my case and say how do you know he doesn’t know what he is talking about, I have read the Bible and have spent my life in dedicated study of the Book. I just wish people who think they know what the Bible says would stop making quotes that aren’t in the Bible. “God helps those who help themselves” isn’t in the Bible nor does the Bible even come close to teaching that false saying. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these thing will be added unto you”. Just an example of how people distort the Bible and Christian faith.

I hope you will esteem Jesus’ commandment, concerning downsizing the wardrobe, if need be, more than you esteem the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment is like permission from an older sibling to do what is already authorized by one’s parent. It is meaningless, except for the purpose of usurping legitimate authority. My ancestors had the Biblical responsibility, according to Luke 22: 36, to bear arms long before “Big Brother” gave us the Second Amendment. If you are a Constitutionalist (or a prostitutionalist–whatever you want to call yourself for whoring after other gods), be ready to turn your guns in as soon as the Second Amendment slips away. As for me and my house, we’ll keep our fingers on the triggers.

You correct on the right to bear arms does not come from man, but the Constitution renumerates the God given rights of all free people. This is what the second amendment is, it is a right that is not debatable. If a person is crazy and is not locked up, that person has the right to bear arms even if the majority believes that he shouldn’t.
This is not debatable in the USA. We need to purge all politicians that believe otherwise, because they are traitors to their own nation.

      • jerry sweet

actually it’s more of a responsibility than a right.but your comment is right on also.Semper Fi.Lock,load,prepare.it is coming fast.

    • jerry sweet

it is not about esteeming the 2nd amendment over Christs.it is just a reminder of what was written thousands of years ago.

Jesus gave us people like General Patton to teach us how to protect our nation and oursleves. SOMEBODY has to pop the bad guys !

    • jerry sweet

there are still a bunch of us Patton like mentalities out here.although some won’t realize it till needed.

There are quite a few steps between singing “Imagine” while carrying a whistle and deadly force (carrying a weapon, perpetually, while being ‘full on ready’ at any moment to execute life’s ultimate penalty–DEATH!)

Mr. Clash surely lets his insecurities show on a regular basis, doesn’t he? He revels in their perpetual display, in fact.

Maybe a bit of bear spray could be a useful for him in his search of dominance–or maybe even loading a few other wise blank shells (for whatever size/type of pistol he’s carrying today) with ground pepper…..you know, lots of the essential clash style masculine noise with a ‘take them down with a coughing/sputtering/crying spell, giving him a head start on his need to physically take them down and display his domination of others.

And please, study up a bit and they tell me more comparable a whip is with firearm induced mortal wounds.

If Jesus didn’t want you to love – he’d of told everyone to lay down their life and their possessions for all who come to take them. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked?

In fact LOVE, requires one to defend against all it’s enemies.

Deuteronomy 5.17 You shall not commit murder.
The secondary teaching here is – THY SHALL PRESERVE LIFE – so HOW can one obey that unless he has the TOOLS necessary to do so with a reasonable ability to succeed?

If your wife and children were being attacked and you did not rise to defend them – what manner of man are you?

To be Christ Minded in this world which contains evils – we are under obligation to own weapons and know how to use them.

    I Corinthians 7:
3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

Ecclesiastes 12:13: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

    Leviticus 18:
30 Thus you shall keep my obligation to not do any of the statutes ⌞regarding⌟ the detestable things that they did ⌞before you⌟, so that you will not make yourselves unclean by them; I am Yahweh your God.’ ”

    Deuteronomy 24:
5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.

    Joshua 22:
    2 and he said to them, “You have observed all that Moses Yahweh’s servant commanded you, and you have listened to my voice in all that I have commanded you;
3 you have not forsaken your kinsmen these many days, up to this day, and you have observed the obligation of the command of Yahweh your God.

,Why on earth would anyone listen to Bob Costas who has shown many time in past to be a peddler of sensationalism in order to enhance his own fortunes as a sports commentator . I was born and raised as a pacifist (Quaker) yet our religion leaves the issue of defense to one’s personal conviction . I did serve in the military and had to deal with my on beliefs . In defending my country and fellow GI’s I accepted Gods will and in defense of my family , if needed I would pick up a gun if came to that . To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven . So it is said in the Bible which is Gods word .
And to those who doubt that Jesus would do different , Remember that he was a large and intimidating person . He forcibly evicted the money changers from the temple , turning over tables in his wrath and no one opposed him .
I might add that a gun is only a tool, it is no better or worse than the hand that holds it

  • dlyn454

The Greek word used for sword in that verse is machaera. The root of the word being mache–“battle” . In other words he is specifically using a word for ‘weapon’.

I’m a big-time prayer warrior who loves Jesus to pieces, but Heaven help those who try to harm my elderly mother and grandmother or me. This self-avowed Aunt Jemima can rock some firearms. Ditto with my daughter, thanks to Women On Target. Growing up in the inner city like I have and having to go there frequently, being armed is imperative.

i have walked with Christ for 40 years and couldn’t have stated it better.when the church??went into the homosexual closet and became the effeminate, selfish, greedy, back biting, church splitting mess it finds itself in,we have to now listen to UNBELIEVERS telling us what the scriptures say.there is a women on You Tube, who seems have very good insight to the events taking place in Israel right now, that leads to the Psalm 83,Isaiah 17,Ezekiel 29/30 war, where they take back the borders God gave to Abraham.NO this next war is not the Ezekiel 38/39 Russian invasion.she blocked me and said i needed to repent of the harsh ways i use to try and awaken a (comatose)church, while witnessing to them. She said i needed the Agape love of Christ and i was just being judgmental.then she blocked me.first,SHE was judging me,second you can have all the Agape love you can muster up for a guppy fish and still go straight to hell.she mentioned she didn’t do much on the Saturday Sabbath..my ? was are you SDA and she ripped me and said no.I was trying to find out what her statement of true faith was and instead of engaging in Christian debate,i was blocked.satan never wants people to read or hear the truth. If a person teaches/promotes false doctrine/teachings .Gods Word says your fate is sealed.you are damned, doomed, and dead.anyway,MY GOD and MY BILL OF (GOD GIVEN) RIGHTS includes owning, and if need be using a gun to defend my life/family against any bully’s that threatens them.I will use deadly force and if attacked i hope they bring their own body bags.oh and i don’t care what uniform they are wearing.come to my home looking for trouble and your family will be very unhappy for a very long time to come.we can die like dogs,or fight tyranny with all the resolve (YOU) can muster.I will not lick this governments boots.but they may bleed on mine.If you don’t know Christ in a personal way you will face terror twice.here on earth, then on judgement day.many who think they are real Christians today will spend eternity in HELL>repent today and ask Christ to forgive you.then you will live with Him forever.

  • jerry sweet

i shouldn’t be appalled at the people who comment about issues that deal with Bible truths and are so completely IGNORANT of the true context of what is being said.JESUS tells us this very day would come.well guess what people we are living in it.there is no saving America.there is nothing left to save.my country has become the most Godless nation on earth.i blame it all on the so called Church.that’s right.the Church.one reason is most people DON”T READ IT the Bible.they let some fallible preacher tell them his opinion..where was the CHURCH when prayer&bible reading was outlawed, abortion, same sex unions and now even marriage.we are damned, doomed and dead.WE have the WORST OF ALL STOOGES now in the outhouse in Washington dc.don’t believe we are under full blown judgement and wrath.just hide and watch.it only gets WORSE from now on.REPENT!!!

  • panors77

Yes…I had to point out that scripture where Jesus told his disciples to sell their cloaks and buy a sword for self defense, knowing that after he was crucified they might be hunted down by the Sanhedrin or the Romans, etc. Jesus was no milktoast ghandi type.

  • rwdodgerblue

While I agree with this column and believe everyone has the God given right to defend themselves, I really wish he hadn’t posted that caricature of Jesus. It almost made me sick to see it. I guess I’ve seen too many blasphemous depictions lately. Maybe I’m over reacting.
I’m old and disabled, but made sure I have the means to protect myself.

There are no anti gunners when someone is about to shoot them. Funny too is there aren’t any athiests in fox holes either ;-)

If some criminal wants to kill his own girl friend or wife and then himself he will do it out of his rage with a gun or without a gun . I for one “will not ” cower from protecting my family , to death !

Jesus also said, “When a strong man, (or woman) FULLY ARMED, guards his palace, his possessions are safe.” Luke 11:21

    Romans 13:4

    English Standard Version (ESV)

for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.

If we’re going to read Romans 13, we had better make sure we read Romans 12, first, and remember Caesar would have been called to the same repentance.

    Psalm 144:1

Blessed be the Lord, my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
    and my fingers for battle;

Wait ’til these idiots see Christ come back with fire in his eyes to destroy all the evil in the world once and for all and his return is not far off.

Hallelujah, Doug, Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. I think Jesus would have loved the Serenity Prayer also:
Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,

And the weaponry to make the difference.

  • Bill Board

The good Lord gave us free will and an innate sense of self preservation. I interpret that as His blessing for me to have my firearms.

  • Bill Weston

Jesus also promised strife and persecution against believers. (Mt 5:10 for example) Also consider that Leviticus and Deuteronomy along with the 10 commandments were not rescinded by His ministry. “We, the people….” still have an unalienable right to protect ourselves, our families and our property. Furthermore, Jesus had more arguements and took issue against the pharasees and sadducees (the church leaders) than anyone else. In fact, the sanhedrin (the church leadership council) were the ones demanding Jesus’ death on “trumpt-up charges.

  • seektruth

“If Christ were to do that today He’d be thrown in prison, and 99.9% of churches in the USA wouldn’t have Him speak at their annual Hallelujah Aren’t We Fabulous conference because Jesus wouldn’t be behaving very “Christ-like.”
    PRICELESS!
Too many of these libtards want to believe that Christ’s words of “…turn the other cheek.” means that we should roll over and allow anyone do whatever they desire to us. I wonder how that would go over in King David’s army or with judge Samson?
