    Phenomenal!

  • Mike Sweeney

Very thoughtful. It is painfully evident by the legions of liberals commenting on LaPierres’s speech today, that these people are not thinking.

Regarding the Second Amendment and high capacity magazines, obviously the same rational would apply to machine guns and grenades. If we are okay with some degree of restricting a person’s right to keep and bear arms, and the left wants to further go after our high capacity mags, then its about time we start restricting free speech. I for one would be willing to compromise and trade my 20 round Tapco for the complete removal of bloody violence from movies and video games.

I also think every gun owner would be willing to make that trade.

    • Steven

I don’t currently own a gun, but I would NOT make that trade. I don’t believe the ‘benefit’ you seen in banning violence in movies is as real as you think. I also see BOTH restrictions as setting precedent for further restrictions NEITHER of us would accept.

How weird is it that I have a CCW but no gun?

      • covert1968

You are a person who lives in a dream world ! Use the CCW and get a Handgun, learn to use it safely and practice with it or your family’s situation may occur where you may have to save your own until you become proficient ! One never knows when a situation may occur where you might have to defend yourself and your family, some other family or school children from a crazy individual !

        • Steven

I admit to being odd, but YOU are the one in a dream world. You can’t even construct a grammatically coherent sentence, yet you presume to know what I do or do not know about anything.

          • boccagalupe

Of course Steven, you could not fathom what it was that covert1968 was referring to or talking about. You, my friend are like so many liberals, in that, when losing the arguement you change the subject. Don’t you belong onHuffy Post???

          • Steven

You have obviously not read ANY of my other comments. YOU are at least as liberal as you THINK I am.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/Z4GOVL5ROIKKFPR6A7UO4QJOIY BeBe

The problem is that they are thinking. Their thinking is just abnormal. They are the victims of years of indoctrination and propaganda. They now have the inability to see reality. They have no genuine feelings. Everything they think, do and say is now manipulated by the propaganda masters. It’s simply the result of indoctrination. This is exactly what happened in Nazi Germany before and during WWII.

      • Gman

You are exactly correct. The libtards are trying to use the dead gray matter to kill two birds with one dumbass idea. Banning the guns to gain more power over the people and make the other dumbass brain dead American feel better that they did something, weather or not it works, about a problem in America.

      • ProbablyANazi

Exactly. Exactly the same. Nothing different. Just like Nazis.

    • Pakinpastor

My 6th great uncle said, “Anyone willing to give up liberties in exchange for security deserves neither”. When Patrick Henry saw a man in the stockades being whipped, he asked what his crime was, to which they responded, ‘he would not buy a license to preach’ and from that, he went to the Continental Congress and made his famous speech of ‘Give me liberty or give me death’.
Also, just one small note, the 30 round magazine is a “standard capacity” magizine for the AR-15. They also come in 10, 20, 30, 60 and 100 round capacity. The police and military have them, and therefore, we should have them also. I own several weapons and none of them have ever hurt anyone in the 20+ years I have had them.
My car on the other hand has killed several squirrels, and sadly a dog. I had a truck that killed a deer, but that was a very mean truck. I got rid of it…

And AR does not mean “assault rifle” it’s short for “Armalite”

Banning anything covered under the 2nd is just allowing the anti’s a ‘foot-in-the-door’. It starts out seemingly small and innocent – soon it is all gone.

  • bobalo59

I’ve often wondered what a pistol grip on a shotgun has anything to do with regulating it. Does it make it more of a shotgun? Does it make it more deadly? I don’t think so. What we’re talking about here is not only an infringement of my rights, but a fear of “look alike” weapons. It looks like an assault rifle so it has to be more deadly. Please thats a very lame argument.

    • Steven

I agree with you comments about pistol grips. I disagree with your acceptance of the term ‘assault rifle’. Unless you allow me to refer to your assault coffee, I reject the classification of ANY weapon I don’t use for assault as an assault weapon. A FULL AUTO, belt fed rifle is NOT an assault weapon when used for defense.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/Z4GOVL5ROIKKFPR6A7UO4QJOIY BeBe

Actually, there is no such thing as an “assault weapon”. That is just a term used by the Leftist Communists in this country to deceive and control the thinking of the public.

        • barto

Yes, used by all Liberals especially the so-called “main-stream media”, many of which don’t know the difference between a semi-automatic(legal) and automatic (illegal) NOR Pistol from Revolver or even where you load a hand gun, rifle or shotgun AND their absolute ignorance of the 2nd. amendment is disgusting!

          • panors77

The M15 was in the guys car trunk thats where the police found it.

          • patriot2

it was supposed to be an AR-15 but I watched the video of the cops inspecting it.it was NOT an AR-15,the picture was of the standard bad quality but you could see the cop pulling back a bolt on the right side-a feature no AR type rifle has.further it looked smaller than the normal ak copy,it did look somewhat like an sks.with the normal quality of anti-second amendment cops out there we may never know what it is.it could be a semi-auto 22.

          • Bass_Boat_Bill

The rifle you describe sounds like a Ruger Mini-14

          • Radicon

Yes but it still was found in the car. The first story said there was 3 weapons. An AR-15 and 2 9mm handguns and the rifle was found in the car. Second day the story changed for the sake of this ban they want. I dont trust anyone I dont know anymore, and some of them I dont trust either

          • Radicon

That is correct. Then the coroner said all the wounds were made by an assualt weapon. And he is right. ALL WEAPONS ARE ASSUALT WEAPONS WHEN IS AS SUCH>. Good call Gunner.

          • Randy G

Why should they let details like FACTS get in way of a BS story?

          • conserveme

They never have before, why start now. What ever to the days when you could count on journalists being journalists. Now all of the news media is mostly all opinion based, little to do with the real life things going on, unless there is a tragedy. They certainly go with the “if it bleeds, it leads” which is probably a lot of the cause of some of this mass violence. These kids starving for attention or wanting to “one up” the last idiot because the news plasters their name every where for weeks on end. We all know who Timothy Mcveigh is but do we know a single victims name from Oklahoma if they were not a family or friend? We know who Dyland Klebold and Eric Harris are but do we remember the name of a sigle columbine victim??

          • Radicon

Samuel Jackson said it best, These kids were hell bent to die. But to die in their basement, no one would ever know who they were, Go on a killing spree and their names go down in history. But I would not my families name to be known like that. KIDS! sheesh

          • Radicon

The first story I heard was they found 2 handguns, both 9mm. ANd a rifle in the car. Second story changed the facts. The reason is to start this ban quicker. Makes no difference to me. I dont need anything I already dont have.

          • David in Dallas

Actually, there is an entity defined as an “assault rifle”–it is a weapon that uses an intermediate cartridge size (between a rifle and a handgun) and is “select fire” (able to fire in either semi- or full-automatic mode); this is an official designation by the military. What most people misname as an “assault rifle” is really what the Media and anti-gunners call an “assault weapon” and is any semi-automatic firearm that looks similar to a true “assault rifle” but cannot fire in the full-automatic mode (many rounds with a single trigger pull). Fully-automatic arms are not strictly “illegal” except in certain states; however, legal ownership of them requires a lot of paperwork, including fingerprints, photographs, a background investigation by the FBI, and payment of a $200 tax (every time the ownership changes hands). So-called “assault weapons” (the semi-automatic guns) are no more deadly than any other less-scary-looking semi-automatic guns, and actually are less deadly than most hunting rifles because they use less powerful ammunition. Concern about large-capacity (really “normal capacity”) magazines is foolish, because it takes very little time to change to a fresh magazine and there have been few attempts to attack a shooter even when reloads have been done–why would anyone think the size of the magazine would matter?

          • Radicon

I just bought me a M-4 177 Crosman bb gun. I only bought it cause it was made by Crosman(great bb guns) and it was cheaper than the rest. But it looks like an M-4. From a distance you can tell a difference. But still it is a bb gun. No license required. It sits on a shelf for any a certain age to buy. Now if someone walked into a store to rob someone with it,that person would scare the hell out of everyone there. Cause till you hold it and see how light it is you cant tell.

          • Indiana_James

barto,….I point out that ‘automatic’ weapons (class 3) are NOT ILLEGAL if one has the proper permits and approved storage for the weapon AND ammunition. There are VERY STRICT regulations for class 3 owners but machine guns ARE legal within those regulations.

          • oldfatguy

You’re partially right, Indie. Any Class 3 (or Title II) weapon that was registered in the NFA registry prior to May of 1986 may be transferred to a private buyer. Title II weapons of more recent manufacture may only be transferred to a government entity. Thank Reagan…

          • Radicon

Well automatics arent illegal. They just make getting them really costly. I have friends who have one. the tax stamp on that thing is around 5 grand I think. Then you got to have the money to buy one. Which can go for around 12,000. But if you can pass the background check and pay for it then you can own it. I wouldnt want to because of the hassle you will have in the future. But doesnt mean it illegal.

          • vicki

Since you know what the 2nd means you must also realize that the difference between semi-automatic and automatic does not make the automatic illegal. There is no distinction in the 2nd about sub categories of “arms”.

        • 2War Abn Vet

The gun confiscators will do or say anything to further their misguided agenda of diminishing American liberties. The current screed against so-called “assault weapons” is just a smokescreen.
All you need to know is that the more tyrannical the government, the more it fears an armed populace.

          • coastx

“Well regulated” means militarized, which is the substance of the argument for the 2nd amendment and why our privately own weapons are so important. The ides is WE own what THEY own, including lasers.

          • David Weakland

“Well regulated” DOES NOT MEAN “MILITARIZED”! It means well trained! The “Militia” is every able bodied male, 16 to 60 years of age (age varies by state) and included him supplying his own weapon (of a type commonly in use) and ammunition.

          • coastx

Yours is the LIBERAL definition. It’s the state’s version and the one they want you to believe. Durh!

          • Radicon

Actually the 2nd was not meant form state to state, It was written for this great country we live. And it should mean the same in all states. And yes David is right.

          • coastx

Uh huh, and your source is… Piers Morgan by any chance? What gives a liberal away is the incorrect and subjective use of grammar. For example, using /right/ instead of /correct/ in the sentence, “And yes, David is right.” Subjective sentence construction ans speech tends to be child-like lending itself to the “uh huh” effect which is signal language for helplessness and a subsequent rescue from like-minded paedomorphs.

          • Jake Layer

I would offer a correction: circa 1790′s “well regulated” meant to be well ‘versed’ or well ‘practiced’ in the use of their arms. If that is what you meant by “militarized” then you are correct. To be well-regulated means having practiced reloads, clearing malfunctions, moving, cover & concealment, presentation from holster, balancing speed and accuracy, etc. ‘Well-regulated’ refers to the *exercise* of the right to keep and bear.

          • patriot2

with obama as president, even illegal as he is,we have a tyrannical govt.

          • Jake Layer

Well put. Inherent in their agenda is a moral imperative to deceive. Simply because the ends are so important that litterally any means are justified.

        • DOC224

This is not correct. The Army issues SAW’s ( squad assault weapons ). I carried one for ten months. Please check the facts.

          • Sven79

Nope, a “SAW” is a Squad Automatic Weapon; the A does not stand for assault. A google check will verify this.

          • Radicon

Now that is a bad ass assault weapon, and very heavy to carry. Clyde Barrows used one. His favorite. I could hold it up for very long.

          • Berzrkr50

I think you’re referring to a BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle). Clyde Barrow loved them. Just saying…

And do not forget, the liberal media helps the government to instill this way of thinking in people’s minds. The media is single handed causing this country to have such low information voters it is unreal, just the way liberals like it and have to have it. Michael Douglas classified it best in American President. “America would never have elected a man in a wheel chair” meaning that if there were news media and tv the way there is now, it tends to bias people’s opinions.

          • conserveme

Meaning they would never have elected Roosevelt if he had to run for office on national tv.

          • Guest

The true tragedy of these multiple murders has been the targets. I would be a lot less affected emotionally if the targets had been the bobble head pundits that sit in front of a camera and give pronouncements on subjects that they are totally ignorant of. Or worse, knowledgeable of but intentionally choosing to mislead on them. Such as regards the purpose and need for the 2nd.
Would probably feel the same about some of those morons elected to serve and then go on a power grab.

        • Jimmie Mathews

Assault weapons are only available to members of the military. They have a selector switch on them, which can be used to go from semi-auto (pull trigger fires one round) and auto (pull trigger and hold) fires rounds until you release the trigger or you expend the rounds in your magazine.

          • Radicon

Actually an auto has 3 switches. semi, 3 round, full auto, And a citizen can own one if he can pass a background check and a wheelbarrow full of money

          • Jake Layer

And the bad guys have assault weapons too.

      • DontTreadOnMe11

I agree Steven, I made a point the other day when asked why I have an “assault weapon”. The questioner was asking me about my AR-15. I told the questioner, that my AR is not an assault weapon. I have never assaulted anyone or anything with it (well OK, maybe a tree while I was target practicing). It is used as a defensive weapon.

      • gunrunner

the word’s { assault weapon } was coined by nbc news

      • Randy G

The best definition of ‘assault weapon’ is those in the hands of the enemy trying to destroy American freedom. Most of the people(?) who want to destroy our way of life are angry because they are not enjoying it as the ones in charge.

My ex-boss was a Major with the Air force Office of Special Investigations and he sent me a video of the Medical Examiner on the Sandy Hook Shooting. The ME stated that Adam Lanza used the Bushmaster in the slaying and that he did not use the “Four (4) pistols that were found in the shooting area” The video was a clip showing that the Responders were retreiving the Bushmaster from the Trunk of the car he used. If the rifle was in the car what did he shoot himself with. Seems to be a bit of an inconsistency here.

      • Berzrkr50

And it’s also come to light that there was more than 1 shooter. And there is video to back that. Something is REALLY fishy here…

  • Fred_K

This would make sense to anyone but a liberal gun grabber.

    • Pakinpastor

Have you noticed how the “gun grabbers” are threatening gun violence against those who won’t give up their guns, or anyone joined with the NRA? So they want to shoot someone if they don’t get their way? Just a bit of oxymoronic logic, isn’t it?

  • Winghunter

“Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. THEIR SWORDS, AND EVERY OTHER TERRIBLE IMPLEMENT OF THE SOLDIER, ARE THE BIRTHRIGHT OF AN AMERICAN…[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the
hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it
will ever remain, in the hands of the people.” – Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania
    Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

Why did our Founding Father’s believe this? Among the Second Amendment’s primary reasons to be included in the Bill of Rights (and listed second in importance) is the ultimate deterrent to a rogue government. However, who would ever believe America would elect, much less re-elect, open traitors to political office in the country. Nah, that possibility is just too insane to contemplate.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/Z4GOVL5ROIKKFPR6A7UO4QJOIY BeBe

Since the gov & “o” has control of the state’s militia, what are we the citizens to do but arm and organize ourselves. Our Constitution clearly states that we have that right. It did not limit the type of weapons we are to possess. Did any of the militias own cannons at that time? Yes, they were not prevented from owning cannons. That simple fact shows that the founding fathers did not intend the ownership of weapons to be limited.

      • MontieR

Wrong, read your constitution. It refers to BOTH the organised, (now the ILLEGALLY co opted national guard) AND the unorganized militia, witch is every man jack that can carry a rifle.

Gotta say there is some inaccurate statements. I would strive to be as accurate as possible when trying to convince a liberal of anything. They will grab on to the slightest inaccuracy and rant on it til the actual conversation or anser is obsecured by a new stupid rant.

An example is; There are more then 2 types of rifles. You also have the side by sides, bolt actions and pump rifles and the single shot with the break actions. Pay attention know what your talking about!

I have always believed that if liberals and other educated dimwits interpreted the 2nd Amendment the way they interpreted the 1st Amendment, that gun ownership would be mandatory. It is easy to point out to one of these dim bulbs, that the meaning and syntax of the 2nd Amendment is absolute, by changing the subject of the 2nd, from “arms” to “books.” For instance: “A informed and literate society, being necessary to the security of a free state. The right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed.” If they are bright and honest, and that is holding out a lot of hope, you may not win them over, but they seem to tolerate the idea that gun ownership is a right not to be tinkered with, watered down, or violated in any way, by any guvmint authority.

  • tedthebear

Assault is a behavior. If you assault someone it can be done with anything including your fists!

  • R Sava

My only issue with this article is:

There are actually two versions of the Second Amendment:

    1. “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” as passed by Congress;

    and

    2. “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” as ratified in the copy sent to the states and certified by Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State. (“The Founders’ View of the Second Amendment”, David Young, pg 222)

The commas and capitalization make ALL the difference. The one the states ratified (2) clearly means the states wanted to maintain the ability to repel the federal government in the case where the federal government tries to assert too much power (as it is doing today). As stated in (2) “… security of a free state” or the state of being free, as opposed to what is says in (1) “….security of a free State” as in the country.

However, many still cling to the one Congress passed (1) which can be interpreted to mean the security of the US a s a whole.

As stated in (2) “… security of a free state” or the state of being free, as opposed to what is says in (1) “….security of a free State” as in the country.

I prefer to use the one as ratified by the states, as without the states’ approval, the State would not exist.

    • MontieR

I despise nit picking and splitting hares. There are two sentances in the second amendment DIVIDED by a comma. The second amendment IS my right to carry nation wide. Any government restricting that right is VIOLATING the constitution.
There is NO such thing as reasonable gun control.

      • R Sava

        That is my point exactly.
The one that the states ratified, the one certified by the Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson, is the one that has only one comma.
        It is very clear.
“…, the right of he people to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT be infringed.”

  • tncdel

It’s time that Conservatives learn to distinguish the difference between a Liberal and a “Progressive” who this article wrongly labels as a Liberal. The two are virtually polar opposites of each other. But the control-freak commie-socialist globalist “Progressives” somehow managed to hijack the Democrat Party from the Liberals, and most Conservatives cluelessly seem to ignore that fact.

A true Liberal supports MORE freedom and less government. They are also fiercely loyal to America and respect U.S. sovereignty. JFK, a true Liberal, was a genuine war hero who laid his life on the line for America. And ultimately he was assassinated by the globalists amid rumors that JFK had planned to abolish the Federal Reserve.

As the Bible says, “By their fruits shall ye know them.” To sort out the loyal Liberals from the globalist Progressives, just scrutinize their stand on illegal immigration. Those who are trying to dissolve our borders by giving illegals amnesty, work permits, etc. are the globalist “Progressives.”

Also, the Republican party has been infiltrated by the globalists as well. Those who revere Reagan are blind to the fact that he was in actuality a globalist neocon who gave illegals amnesty. Compare Reagan to Ike Eisenhower, who mass-deported over 1.3 million illegals.

Any Republican or Democrat who supports giving illegals “a pathway to citizenship” [amnesty] is a TRAITOR to America. No way to sugarcoat it or clean it up. For anyone with an IQ above that of a turnip should be able to realize that would only serve to attract millions more job-stealing illegals here. Didn’t we learn anything from Reagan’s gross blunder?

    • R Sava

      That would be a libertarian.

Until we fix the educational system and start educating instead of having the kids indoctrinated, we will be in a constant battle to preserve our rights. It will be an uphill battle for 20 or 30 years, but it can be done. I want the kids educated not indoctrinated into the leftist mantra. Until then keep your guns handy and loaded–I think we’re going to need them.

Perfect answers to stupid questions. I wonder what answers we would get if we could ask the millions who were murdered in countries that outlawed guns what they think of gun control laws?

  • 2bvictorius

Gun control is a code word for, gun confiscation and total destruction and aboilishment of the second amendment to the Constitution. Marxists and every other form of tyranny follow a well established plan of action, although the plan is somewhat flexible to allow taking advantage of every availble opportunity to advance their cause, such as natural and man made disasters, they never lose sight of their ultimate goal, of obtaining absolute power over the people by whatever means necessary. The first step must be to construct a base of power within the body of the people from which they can maneuver, labor unions are perfect because it affords them access to money, a public platform which allows access to the media and the voters of all political parties, and provides a great deal of protection by the very thing they seek to destroy, the mechanism that guarantee’s they can safely carry out their plan, the Constitution of the United States. America was infected with the disease, now known as Marxism approximately 100 years ago and every institution of government and the private sector is now infected with that disease, including the courts of justice. The greatest advancement of the Marist doctrine since 1913 and the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson was made possible by the 1932 election of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the second world war, the Korean conflict and Vietnam.

The federal government is not a friend unto the people, it has become what George Wshington,Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Benjamin Franklin warned Americans about, a central power from which tyrants rule the people.

The marxists tyrants know they must destroy the second amendment and disarm their enemy (we the people) before they can realize their ultimate goal of having achieved absolute power over the people. Any regualtion that restricts ownership of firearms and whatever is required for their use, is another victory for the Marxist tyrants, and a defeat for we the people.

The second amendment is the very rock upon which the founders created America and it remains the most important rock within that foundation, because without it the nation that gave freedom and individual liberty to the world will collapse into rubble.

If banning guns is the answer, let me give everyone a few thoughts. Why do you have a fire extinguisher in your house? why do you have fire insurance? first you have the extinguisher to put out a fire “if” you have one. Second you have fire insurance because you’re betting your house will burn down, and the insurance company is betting it won’t.(but they’re glad to take your money) So I would rather have a gun and not need it, than need it and not have it. Get it? not to mention it’s my 2nd amendment “right” and since you liberal/marxist commies seem to spout nothing but “rights” for abortion “rights” for homosexuals to marry, “rights” for illegal immigrants… why then do you want to take “WE THE PEOPLE’S” “right” to own guns away? So I say to you; the next time a criminal comes into your home, wants to rape your wife/girlfriend, boyfriend or whatever you say to them… “lay down, spread your legs and say give it to me big boy, why because you have the “right” to rape, kill or do whatever you want to me and my family, I wont stop you.” sounds like insanity too me, how bout you?

This tragedy in Connecticut has absolutely nothing to do with firearms! Blaming firearms for this tragedy is like blaming pencils for incorrect spelling.

This tragedy is the inevitable consequence of 45 years of the LIBERAL LEFT’s nihilistic social engineering and their narcissistic and sociopathic ideologies coming to fruition!

The Liberal Left has, through their annoying and never ending attempts at social engineering of society, created a generation of nihilistic reprobates and
emasculated sissy’s, a mirror image of themselves, who have been indoctrinated
with the Liberal Left’s narcissistic and sociopathic ideologies; and now, instead of remaining within the confines of their delusional Liberal dystopia, where life has no moral or ethical value and death and destruction is no more consequential in reality than it is in
the shadows of their computers and electronic video games they prey upon society
like rabid dogs intent on making everyone as miserable as their narcissistic
and sociopathic Liberal Tutors have made them!

Unfortunately, the Liberal Left, being narcissistic sociopaths themselves are completely oblivious to the obvious and will deny the fact that it is their sociopathic ideologies, their delusional social engineering of society and their complete lack of any moral or ethical compass that are responsible for the creation of these Monsters, but instead, they will attempt to focus attention upon others and lay blame upon an inanimate object in the hopes of distracting the multitudes of the ignorant American people (unfortunately you
can’t fix stupid) from the actual underlying cause of this tragedy!

So, stand up LIBERALS’s and take a “BOW” for although you may not have squeezed the trigger, you are for all intents and purposes, the Grand Architects of these tragedies!

    I have some questions;

Who forced the sale of weapons to Drug Cartels without ANY controls over those weapons?
Who came up with ‘Gun Free Zones’?
Who supports killing 3000+ kids per day?

I believe first off that human life means NOTHING to Liberals in power and will use the deaths to validate their agenda.. I believe they will and have set up killing fields knowing that Criminal Actors and Crazies will take advantage of the defenceless shooting galleries set up for them.. Bodies aren’t even cold before they blame guns or the availability of guns as the problem… IE; Fast and Furious was to be used to validate their claim that Gun availability in the United States was a major problem and should have more controls, people died and are still dying on both sides of the border in this Liberal killing field… Liberal ‘Gun Free Zones’ guarantees a path of least resistance to Mass Killers and a continuous source of Terror to keep pressure on for Gun Control.. I include abortion because it shows that just to get the vote of women Liberals think NOTHING of supporting the killing of 3000+ babies a day… Just for votes !!! Why would they give a crap about 20-30-40-100 dying in one of their killing fields if it serves their agenda? I also would remind people that it is Liberals who advocate and threaten violence if anyone stands in the way of their agenda.. From Union Goons, Black Panthers, riots threatened if Obama lost the election, Texas Democratic leader tweeting the need to kill NRA members, Hollywood actor advocating the jailing of Conservatives and the list goes on… I contend it is not gun owners people should worry about but that they need to keep an eye on Liberals…

my point exactly my post right after this one explains, kids today fall for that left and right. i manage kids in restaurant industry, high school and college kids are being socialized and environmentalized, but know nothing of our history, founding, constitution, declaration of independence, and bill of rights. the idea that we are going to overcome that is wishful – if we are to hang on to our republic then we must consider the true reason for the second amendment quickly…

  • scrambo

The sad truth is that I manage a lot of young kids in my business. I often say that and they don’t know the difference…I usually say what year did the germans bomb pearl harbor…they don’t have a clue…they are socialized and environmentalized in school. • har82

Anyone who knows anything ,, about gun smithing . Knows those are of the same type of firearm. Both ,, manually operated , multi shelled firearms. And by the way, can be made fully automatic… That ,, is the reason the Federal government looks on all ,,,, multiple shelled firearms,, as an assault weapon ( though the description of assault is erroneous at best ) .
Back in the 70′s , some guy made a Winchester 30/30 – lever action – fully ,, automatic , and , did the same with a – bolt – action Mauser. . Pretty interesting article that guy had lol. It was even fully illustrated on how to do it. :)

Since we all know that anything like a bat, knife, mace, table leg, sword, fist and feet are a assult weapon, we should ban them and more. A matter of fact all people should live in a plastic bubble. This according to liberals who want to take “fates” place. We who have a I.Q. higher than warm water knows you can not protect everyone from the world around, but people can protect themself from the world better then them liberal collectivist. Arm the responsible people and reevaluate the dangers of SSRIs’ on children and young adults. 1. The criminals would be less likely to asault and robb armed people. 2. People on SSRIs’ would have to be winged from them and find an alternative treatment instead of psychotic inducing drugs for profit by the pharmaceutical companies that are handed out like candy from the school system. As well as, not watching corporate Main Stream Media who are parroting “Guns are bad, take them away” instead of “SSRIs’ are dangerous, pull them from the market”

Having done considerable meditation on the nominative absolute phrase at the beginning of the Second Amendment, here’s what I finally realized:

How is a militia well regulated? Well, first, it needs not to abuse the people it is supposed to protect. It does not quarter troops in private homes, slaughter farm animals for food, rape civilian women, etc. Right? It does the job it is supposed to do and does not abuse its power. Now…what does a citizen’s right to bear arms have to do with regulating a militia? Simple. It warns soldiers and their commanders that they cannot exploit the population with impunity. What do you think, folks? Does this make sense? Otherwise, I cannot understand what James Madison meant when he used that introductory phrase. To me, this concept is central to our clear understanding of history that tyrrany follows closely in the path of a disarmed population.

Good article. Ms. Zook makes a common mistake made among many conservative writers when covering the subject, and also made by many lawyers and judges who really should know better. The right to keep and bear arms, commonly know as Second Amendment rights, are, in fact, not dependent upon the Second Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms is a fundamental right, and is necessary to be able to enjoy the right to self defense. Like the other rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights, they are fundamental rights. They, like the the rights enumerated in the Declaration of Independence are among the “self evident” rights. Are the rights to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” no longer in existence because they are not enumerated in the Constitution? All the rights enumerated still exist, even without the Bill of Rights. The US Constitution exists, not to grant rights, but to limit Government power. Strictly speaking, the term “Constitutional Rights” is a misnomer.

Note also, when the Founding Fathers spoke of self defense, they didn’t mean just defense from common criminals. They also included self defense against the Government, and in their writings they show that they felt that the public, the people had the right to any weapons the military had, so as to be in a position to resist them.

The whole Bill of Rights was considered superfluous by many of the Founding Fathers. It was insisted on by men, who, in this day and age would have the mindset of a safety engineer. Belt and suspender types. Than heaven for them. Our natural rights, fundamental rights, god given rights, call them what you will, have been under assault almost before the ink on the signatures was dry. Every branch of Government, Legislative, Executive, and Judicial, has attempted to limit the rights of the people, while enhancing their own power. They are, as a whole enemies of the people, and of individual liberty

    • har82

All forms of government ,, are enemies of the people that are subject to them. And that ,,, is what the Founders wanted to display in all ,, our founding documents . There is no other reason for any ,, of these documents to exist except for one . – To protect the people – ,, from ,, governments. That is the whole point of them. :)

Some people just do not get it. If you do not like Liquor you just do not drink it and maybe not buy it or maybe stay away from those places of inequity where it is the main product. But no!! The progressive Liberal insists it be outlawed. They are just as Stupid as the Prohibitionists . This time its guns. They are so stupid that if they outlaw Whiskey the Alcohol problems will be cured. And these idiots vote and they are also in charge.

    • Arizona_Don

Very true Bob. You’ve hit the nail on the head. If you or I do not like beer we don’t buy it. However, if a liberal progressive doesn’t like it they want it banned for everyone. I will never understand that mind set. It suggests they actually do not believe in freedom(s).

Gun control, the affordable healthcare act, big government and taxation, all are about controlling the population. Control is what large governments do, it is not a provider it is a controller. It becomes a caretaker (provider through taxation) in order to gain confidence and acquire the total control it desires. That fact alone provides a reason why Barack Obama is pushing for more and more taxes, even though he realizes it may reduce revenue, but it will provide more control over those very rich people. In many cases in administrating that control governments became so paranoid they began murdering the populations. In the twentieth century over 170 million citizens were murdered by their governments for that very reason. That will happen every time when governments become the sole and complete power. The statement; Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, is completely true. These facts have been known for centuries so why do “we the people” allow it to happen here? I suggest to you, it is ignorance. Anyone desiring confirmation for that just watch the “man on the street interviews” the proof is there.

Out founders were aware of the pitfalls that were possible with every nation and tried to avoid them within our constitution, however, it is being ignored and circumvented in nearly every instance by the current administration. If this continues the end result will not be good!

  • MontieR

Anyone who openly asserts gun control is necessary for safety has proven themselves incapable of rational thought, thereby proving themselves to be to ignorant to hold a reasonable conversation on the subject.

    DID YOU KNOW THESE FACTS?

Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!

Make a personal reflection about this…….

Very interesting, read until the end……

It is Written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7)

‘Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
For whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap…
Here are only some men and women who mocked God:

    John Lennon (Singer)
Some years before, during his interview with
    An American Magazine, he said:
Christianity will end, it will disappear.
I do not have to argue about that…
I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects
were too simple, today we are more famous than Him” (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ,
    Was shot six times.

    Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil)
During The Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes
From his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President,
    Then he died.

    Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian
    Composer, singer and poet)
During a show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro),
While smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some
smoke into the air And said: “God, that’s for you.”
He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic.
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the
Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: “Not even God can sink it”
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.

    Marilyn Monroe (Actress)
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show.
He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.
After hearing what the Preacher had to say, She said:
    “I don’t need your Jesus”.
A week later, She was found dead in her apartment.

    Bon Scott (Singer)
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
“Don’t stop me; I’m going down all the way, down the highway to hell”.
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been
    choked by his own vomit.

    Campinas (IN 2005)
In Campinas , Brazil , a group of friends, drunk,
Went to pick up a friend……

The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness
of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:

“My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.”
She responded: “Only If He (God) travels In the trunk, cause inside here….. It’s already full.”
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died,
the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact.
The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the
trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer)
said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book
ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond
    recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no
other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus.
Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive…

  • Skip

That-a-girl Michelle, you tell ‘em. That’s the best rebuff I’ve seen in a long time!

The most immediate problem we now have on the horizon is Republican representatives discussing closing the “gun show loophole” . This is a complete misnomer—there’s no such thing! A “loophole” in a law is a flaw in the wording that enables a creative “interpretation” which permits breaking the law in some unanticipated way.

When the Brady Bill was being negotiated in both houses of congress, a proviso added to the bill specifically exempting the transfer of privately owned firearms to eligible buyers from the requirement of a pre-purchase background check. The reasons for this are simple.

Because private individuals are given no access to the NICS background check system and would be unable to perform the necessary investigation into the potential buyer’s history.

Such transfer could be performed by a licensed gun dealer, however , the law cannot force the licensed dealer to do the background check for a private buyer, nor, if he does perform the background check for the private buyer, could he be required to do it for free. In fact, he could charge WHATEVER he wanted. The holder of the firearms license isn’t in business to lose money by helping a private gun owner compete with him by selling his used rifle for $100 less than a new one that the gunshop has in stock. All the licensed dealer has to do is price his background check fee high enough to drive up the cost of the privately owned rifle until it’s more expensive than a new one. Then, the buyer would simply abandon the private seller, and buy the new one from the gun shop.

Private owners of guns would find themselves unable to sell their weapons to anyone but a licensed dealer, and dealers would be under no obligation to pay fair market value, they could pay as little as they wanted, and the seller would have no choice
but to sell their $1000 rifle for pennies on the dollar, or turn it into the local police for free.

If the government really wanted to address this issue—and I’m not suggesting that they should– all they’d have to do is grant private sellers access to the NICS system. Because the seller—licensed or not—doesn’t see any confidential information, or learn the details surrounding the rejection of a buyer, there’s no good reason for denying access to the NICS system to private sellers. The federal government simply doesn’t want to. The truth is, the government isn’t really concerned about guns “falling into wrong hands”, it’s only concerned with exercising greater control over access to guns by ANYBODY but government.

I like the term Constitutionally Recognized Rights. The only thing I see the Constitution do is recognize my Creator given rights, and restrict the Government. I always like to read the “free state” part of the Second Amendment as our “free state” of being.

  • runnindeer

The question about “all people in the United States being able to run around with guns” sounds just like the majority of female liberal anti- gun people. NO one should ever “run around” with guns unless they are well trained and in the line of duty or life and death . Running with scissors is also a no no. Before the lady’s who read this get the wrong idea, I specified female anti- gun people because they do for the most part seem to be the silliest when talking about this subject that they have strong opinion and no fact about. The anti- gun men are usually just dumb and not very capable of common sense thought or behavior that would be described as beneficial to themselves or others in a life or death situation or survival mode. They have to hire someone to do most everything for them and no doubt they are gung ho for hiring an armed guard if it was their life or property at stake.

Whats really amazing is that when this kid used only hand guns and left the rifle in his trunk they still insist that he used it an assault rifle. What did he go out to the parking lot and reload and put it back in to his trunk. Why don’t they give the truth about what state of mind he was in.No they would rather go after the guns as having high capacity clips.Maybe if he only had a gun that didn’t reload its self he would have changed his mind. What if he took the pencils from them and used them to stick in their brains would you be going after the bad pencils? The problem is that they can’t forgive them selves from releasing the insane on to the public by closing the institutions. They alone are to fault for all of the mass killings not the guns.

When the Founding Fathers wrote the Bill of Rights for inclusion to ensure ratification and acceptance of the Constitution, the colonies had just fought a revolution with a great military power. The weapons used by both sides were single-shot, muzzle-loading weapons. The Red-Coats used the Brown Bess smooth-bore that had an accuracy problem and was primarily used in massed formations for volley fire. Many of the American weapons were of similar design and used in the same manner. Some American weapons had rifling in the barrels giving them an advantage in accuracy and range. Therefore, the arms guaranteed to the people were either equal to or better than those available to the standing armies involved in the American Revolution. This makes the argument concerning civilians owning military-grade arms a load of bovine scatology.
Suppose one owns a Remington Model 7400. That is a semi-automatic hunting rifle with a four-shot magazine (a clip is a device used to feed ammunition into a magazine). This rifle comes in a variety of calibers. One of the more popular is the .30-06. The 5.56mm/.223 fires a bullet weighing 55-to-60 grains at a muzzle velocity of roughly 3,000 feet per second. The .30-06 can fire a bullet weighing up to 220 grains at a muzzle velocity of roughly 2700 feet per second. Do the math. The kinetic energy imparted by the .30-06 dwarfs that of the 5.56mm/.223. Body armor may defeat the smaller bullet, but the ’06 will defeat most body armor.
The hue and cry against the AR-platform and large magazines is purely an emotions-based screed. A trained marksman with any .30-caliber rifle commonly used for deer hunting, can inflict a ton of mayhem. British infantry in WWI and WWII firing the Lee-Enfield bolt action rilfle could fire 20 aimed shots per minute at ranges up to 1,000 yards. A bulldog is ugly, but a pitbull is more dangerous.

you ALMOST hit the mark, but kept skirting it in your reasons FOR possessing large caliber and large capacity. The reason for having BOTH is the same…it is senseless to attempt ANY activity without ENOUGH ‘tools’ to properly handle the task. This includes defending oneself. If you do not have the firepower to defeat your attacker, you may as well not even fight.

  • Idadho

The Army uses full auto weapons most frequently for defensive purposes. The SAW, Squad Automatic Weapon is designed to provide cover from attacking forces. It is a defensive weapon. Even the high rate of fire minigun is used to suppress fire. The three round burst from an M-16/M-4 may be used to attack or assault or as a defensive effort.

I would improve Michelle’s comments “Guns come in two varieties: automatic and semi-automatic.” to 6 varieties. Belt fed automatic (100 to 200 round belt), up to 30 round clip fed automatic, semi-auto with a three round burst, semi-auto with one shot fired per trigger pull, magazine fed repeat fire requiring a pump, bolt or lever action, and pure single shot requiring a hand reload of a round between shots. The first 3 are for military or police use and are all but unaffordable for the common citizen to obtain and use. The last three have been common in the hunting, sport shooting and self-defense communities for a century or more. The ‘assault’ term is based on the mindset of the gun user. Even a pure single shot firearm can be used as an assault weapon. Military snipers may use a single shot weapon. I would term any sniper situation to be an assault situation. Assault just means an offensive effort.

Even the military reserves ‘assault’ for a specific category of weapons. The M-16/M-4 is called an assault rifle yet is offers full auto (often disabled), 3 round burst, and semi-auto fire. The M-14 is termed a Battle rifle yet the Obama administration has labeled the civilian counterpart as an assault riffle.

Does a pistol grip on a hand gun make it a assault hand gun? Competitive shooters usually shoot firearms with a pistol grip, often by having a stock with a thumb hole.

This is not about banning certain weapons. It is about starting the dominoes of banning all weapons.

  • Kenneth Kirkham

it was ok up to “with a stipulations that the principal is aware of it”. There should be no restrictions…period. All restrictions do is give some politician the list of people to go after.

After “our government” passed NDAA twice, which enables the.President to orddr the US military to arrest and detain WI
THOUT WARRANT AND DUE PROCESS, I want to be as heavily armed when they decide to round us up….. Just like Stalin, lenin, mao, polpot, and a certain German in.the late 1930′s.
Total violation of the.bill of rights “guaranteed by.the.US constitution”. Our lawmakers not.only.violated their oath of office but used the Constitution to wipe their arse.

  • jamohio

In the founders time, they had muskets and cannons yes but they also realized that weaponry would evolve so they knew they couldnt specify the type of arms We The People could keep and bear!! They knew the people would need arms equal to the government!! Pretty simple!!

  • SFXDM9MM

If they use the term assault weapon as a classification,
those weapons in that classification have to be deemed by somebody
as assault weapons! Who is that person? What qualifies them? Would it be home
land security, which would be a partisan view! Would it be the Supreme Court?
Another partisan view and judgment just like obamacare.

If in a legal battle they claim certain guns as assault
weapon, again who makes that term legit by law and who classifies what as an assault
    weapon by law.

Whatever they think they can classify as an assault
weapon then we with the help of the NRA and gun manufactures can reclassify as defense
weapons this would nullify any law pertaining to assault weapons. That would put
a whole new twist on the game because anybody trying to take away your defense ARMs
is telling you, you can’t defend yourself and MUST give up your life for the
    sake of the attacker’s cause?

No MATTER what they do or try to do is unconstitutional
because they are considered ARMs. To ban any ARMs is banning the Second Amendment!

  • yankeewatchdog

Damn,…my shotgun has two pistol-grips on it. And a folding stock. I must be a real outlaw.

Most all liberals have a Diane Feinstein mentality.

  • USMC and America proud

‘The ignorant going to stupid should shut up, stop posting and try to learn from those who do know some things’

Which is the EXACT problem you see! The ‘Liberals’ like Obama, think that they are “SOoo much smarter, better, more educated” than you, that you can’t be ‘trusted’ to take care of yourself! They just HAVE to ban firearms, or the stupid will continue killing each other! And, to them, that’s not a bad thing, but you’re liable to accidentally hurt one of THEM in the process! “After all, only idiots need to protect themselves from other idiots! And we need to protect ourselves from them too!”
That’s the mentality of a liberal! The idea that some people take offence at them is because we’re to stupid to realize how superior in intellect they are! I told Obama to not try to match wits with me, he’ll come off looking like what he IS! A half-wit! Well now you see it’s true! The first debate with Romney? He thought HE won!! Only a half-wit would believe that! The reason he uses a TelePrompTer is because of it! How many Really intelligent people do YOU know that needs one?

I think the communist manifesto would trump sharia. In any case, BO’s obvious plan is to dump the presidential term limit, confiscate all the guns then call for martial law suspending the constitution. Then later the constitution will be permantly replaced with marx’s manifesto. We’ll be renamed the USSTA(United Soviet Socialst Territories of Amerika) because things like “states” will be done away with, along with things like “voting”.

  • rodney

I heard it was that blound haired guy on one of the Liberal networks.

Voting has already been done away with, look to the last election.
