Breitbart- NAACP President Ben Jealous claimed yesterday that Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC)–the first black Senator from the South since Reconstruction–does not believe in civil rights: “[W]e have Republicans who believe in civil rights. Unfortunately he is not one of them.” The basis for Jealous’s claim is that Scott received an “F” on the NAACP’s annual civil rights scorecard, where it judges legislators on their votes on several so-called “civil rights” issues.
In reality, the NAACP scorecard has nothing at all to do with civil rights, and is just a checklist of liberal Democrat policy priorities, from collective bargaining to global warming. Here are the NAACP’s key votes:
- ENFORCEMENT OF THE DAVIS-BACON ACT REQUIRING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS ONLY WITH EMPLOYERS WHO PAY PREVAILING WAGE REQUIREMENTS
- THE RIGHT OF TRANSPORTATION SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (TSA) WORKERS TO ENGAGE IN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
- BANNING THE EPA FROM REGULATING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS
- REPEALING FUNDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF HEALTH CARE REFORM
- BANNING ALL FEDERAL FUNDING FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES PROVIDED BY PLANNED PARENTHOOD
- CHEN JUDICIAL CONFIRMATION
- LIU JUDICIAL NOMINATION / CLOTURE
- MEAN-SPIRITED, DRACONIAN BUDGET RESOLUTION FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012
- JOB CREATION
- NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON COMMISSION TO REVIEW AMERICA’S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
- PUBLIC EMPLOYEE JOB CREATION
- TRANSPORTATION JOB CREATION
- LIMIT THE EPA’S ABILITY TO REGULATE CROSS-STATE AIR POLLUTION
- RICHARD CORDRAY TO BE CONFIRMED AS DIRECTOR OF THE CONSUMER FINANCIAL PROTECTION BUREAU
- BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT
None of the above votes has anything at all to do with civil rights, racial equality, or the welfare of black Americans. What the NAACP has done is create a litmus test that no conservative can pass.

"Doug Giles and his team over at ClashDaily.com cut through the crap to expose what have become modern day human slaughter houses: gun free zones. Their candid arguments about allowing teachers to protect themselves and the students in their care through concealed carry should be taken seriously. As a result maybe, just maybe, we’ll be able to save some lives someday rather than call the cops to report the body count." - Katie Pavlich. "There were many lessons to draw from the horrific Newtown, CT school shooting. Unfortunately, most of the media and political Left came up with the wrong ones. But not Doug Giles and his writers over at ClashDaily.com. In the wake of this horror, they offered a robust defense of American citizens' right to bear arms and common sense answers to societal violence. The Sandy Hook Massacre: When Seconds Count, the Police are Minutes Away is a great resource for those interested in this vital, Constitutional issue." - S.E.
