Hope & Strippers: Welfare Recipients Watching The Pole on The Government Dole

They’re on the dole — and watching the pole.

Welfare recipients took out cash at bars, liquor stores, X-rated video shops, hookah parlors and even strip clubs — where they presumably spent their taxpayer money on lap dances rather than diapers, a Post investigation found.

A database of 200 million Electronic Benefit Transfer records from January 2011 to July 2012, obtained by The Post through a Freedom of Information request, showed welfare recipients using their EBT cards to make dozens of cash withdrawals at ATMs inside Hank’s Saloon in Brooklyn; the Blue Door Video porn shop in the East Village; The Anchor, a sleek SoHo lounge; the Patriot Saloon in TriBeCa; and Drinks Galore, a liquor distributor in The Bronx.

The state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA), which oversees the “cash assistance program,” even lists some of these welfare-ready ATMs on its Web site.

One EBT machine is stationed inside Club Eleven, an infamous Hunts Point jiggle joint known as much for its violent history as its girls in pink thongs.

Cops have been cracking down on the Bronx club since 2009 and shut it down temporarily in 2010. In July, five men were stabbed and two others shot outside after bouncers broke up a 4 a.m. brawl with pepper spray. The club appeared to be shuttered when The Post visited Thursday.

Anyone who is collecting Govt money should be made to wear an ankle bracelet like the prisoners wear.. they also shud be made to report at all times where they are and with whom.. lets also regulate how far they walk each day and for what purposes.. also no going over any city or town line without asking and getting a visa after explaining thier need for travel.. and lastly lets regulate both their sleep time as well as how many calories a day they consume.. long live the American state..

I do not think it is fair for some of you people writing these comments to lump some of us into the same class as the real freeloaders, who have never worked.     Me too I paid into the system for 36 years. I am disable and I would LOVE to work again but I CAN’T. Do not lump us all into the same pile. I am NOT a freeloader I paid my insurance premium for 36 years. I worked hard my whole life, had a good job and paid my taxes. I don’t eat out, go to bars, movies or clubs.i shop at the 99cent store. I own a 14 year old car, I haven’t bought new clothes in 3 years and my last vacation was in 2004

    they are also seen in casino’s and such…. for anyone on welfare, drug test and alcohol test need to be done before each months check is issued…. all need to be banned from all gambling institutions and bars…. also NO CASH BACK FOR EBT CARDS….. NONE…… food only……

The “bread and circus” doesn’t have to include gladiators (wrestlers, football players, and other atheletes?). When the money is paid, the “payee” decides how to spend it. Greater discretion is exercised if the money is earned. Civil government is not the correct social institution to help those that need it. This is an area where “separation of church and state” applies. Only productive citizens have the right to make those decisions.

Ok why afre they even being able to get cash, they can get the cash and any ATM then spend it for drugs, booze and sex anywhere. The EBT cards should only be for use at a store and then for just certain products, like the “food stamps” card. People on welfare should not have access to things ike cigarettes, and alcohol on tax payer’s funds.

  The same card works for cash and food stamps…they are given a certain amount that can only be used for food, and a second deposit on the same card for a cash amount…X amount per person in the household. The cash part can be used anywhere for anything, where the food money is regulated. Many times I’ve been in line with my cheap hamburger and generic products while watching a cart full of chips, pop, candy and t-bones being purchased with an EBT card…I have a friend who works in the local casino who tells me people line up at the ATM with their EBT cards, draw out the cash and head for the slot machines. Some how it just doesn’t seem fair.

A few years back it was said that welfare recipents from California went to Vegas and got money from the ATM’s with cards.

They definitely can not purchase a 32 oz ounce drink with their hookers, lap dances drugs, gambling, or alcohol, the soda would be bad for you , ask Blummerberg he will tell you .we generally get the politicians we deserve. They have to fix the rob from the haves to give to the refuse to work for

As I live in California and work for an agency that provides
welfare (TANF or CalWORKs as it is called here in California), I can tell you
that these programs are really about creating a false economy. If even half of
the millions of dollars that are pumped into each of California’s Counties by
the CalWORKs program stopped, the local economies would crumble. That is why
they do not hold welfare clients accountable to any real standards.

This is the “new normal”. I had to evict a tenant and she was trying to get on welfare because she’s LAZY. After the eviction I had to remove every stitch of carpet and all the tile floors (ceramic tiles, no less!!!) from all the dog urine and feces stains in the carpet and tile grouting. PIGS. Lazy PIGS.

Speaking of this topic what Mayor was it that would not enforce a policy of not using EBT cards for liquor or ciggarettes or for buying lotto tickets? Anyway America has become a test laboratory to see if liberalism really is a mental illness and the tests so far are conclusive, Yes and it appears irreversable.
