Not to defend her but I reckon she’s saying that many have been shot and killed by “unloaded” weapons. And many have. By accident. One of them my aunt. Forgot the one in the chamber.

And – right up until the minute it needs to be used – an unloaded gun – unless it’s a revolver – is as threatening to the beholder as is a loaded one.

(Wonder how much she had to drink to end up looking like that?)

you can only be shot by a gun that is presumed to be unloaded. an unloaded gun has NO projectile in the chamber. Therefore, no matter how many times you cock and pull the trigger you cannot shoot anybody. However, you can be cut by a very dull knife although it tends to tear the flesh. A very sharp knife will slice much deeper into the flesh with much less force. Just so you know I buy whole rib-eyes and slice them myself

p.s. it goes without saying that you can surely be shot with a loaded gun if the muzzle is pointed directly toward you when the trigger is pulled and loaded means that whether there are any projectiles in the magazine or not there is one in the chamber

She’s obviously an antigunner, but giving her the benefit of the doubt, she may have been addressing the premise that some people (idiots) assume a gun is unloaded without checking, and end up getting shot by accident. It does happen – and is covered by every hunter’s, firearm, and shooting range safety course I’ve ever taught or attended. Rule of thumb – FIRST remove the clip, then rack the slide/bolt, then visually inspect the barrel.
