New Jersey Firefighters Promoted With Their Hands On The BibleΓǪAppAtlantic City Fire Department, five men were promoted to Battalion Chief and three were promoted to Fire Captain. They realized that no one in the City Council chambers brought a bible to the ceremony so after some “quick thinking and technology” someone pulled up the Bible on their iPad and the eight men swore in with their hands on the tablet. The Bible is not needed for the swearing in because it holds no legal water, but it is still tradition in some parts and one that the ACFD is evidently adamant to keep.
