The Obama administration has declared war on half of the lethal armored, “1-2 punch” of American ground war fighting capabilities- a major component in keeping America the land of the free & the home of the brave.

The Bradley Fighting Vehicle, paired with the M1 Abrams, chewed through Saddam Hussein’s Russian-supplied armored forces while offering unequaled protection of U.S. soldiers and Marines in the intense urban combat of places like Karbala, Ramadi, and Tikrit. There is a reason there are so many pre-school aged little boys with the name “Bradley”. Thanks to Obama’s leadership they have now been put on the chopping block.

      We the people have done nothing. We keep returning those who have put us in the situation we are back to DC. It doesn’t say much about us as a people. Most people don’t want to spend the time it takes to research the issues and how are elected officials vote. Much of this is the fault of we the people and until we get serious nothing will change. We need to fire probably 99% of congress and the white house. We are seeing a reason for term limits. The politicians think that their main job is getting reelected and nothing else matters.

        “No recount” because 30 years ago or so, the Republicans signed an agreement with the DNC that recounts would no longer be requested in future elections, in an effort to speed up the election process. Something they have most likely regretted ever since, and something that should be voided ASAP. Had that agreement not been in affect last year Romney would have probably walked away with the elections, but then again maybe not since Karl Rove was running the campaign. It still bothers me that he ran the last two Republican campaigns, and both candidates lost by nearly the same vote margin, and every candidate he supported lost, and those who ran their own campaigns without his help or that he refused to help won. I hope whoever runs in ’16 doesn’t make the same mistake.

As a M3a2 Bradley veteran, good riddance. My job as a Scout was to sneak and peek so they gave me the third largest tracked vehicle in inventory. Looking through the history of the Bradley, it is a political nightmare!! This vehicle is a disgrace to the name of General Bradley. Compared to the Fox and Marder, it falls short. It is fine as a IFV , but never should have been tasked as a Recon vehicle.

    Just because a defense contractor fails to get our tax dollars to build more of an outdated vehicle, doesn’t mean the military will abandon existing vehicles overseas.
    
    The alternative is the more capable and efficient Stryker family of vehicles. BAE didn’t mention that vehicle, because it’s made by competitors.

      Brian, did you miss yesterday’s article that said obum will bring the troops home next year, but all the military equipment will be left behind, because it’s “too expensive” to bring all the vehicles, armaments, etc. home? So, that means we will be arming the enemy with our expensive war machines worth who knows how much money! What do you think they (our enemies) will do with all that useful equipment, while we have none?
      If they plan to leave it, they should at least destroy it, or somehow render it useless. Any ideas?

We waste too much. We spent $60 billion rebuilding Iraq after we left and for what? Now we give over 200 new tanks to our enemy in Egypt.   What it is being used for is not the issue.
  
  You’re right about its being poorly used as a recon vehicle. This is not the Huey: originally designed as an air-evac ambulance, it was widely used as a weapons platform and a troop carrier. I flew in one as an air cav infantryman — loved it. The Blackhawk is a better aircraft, but it took years to develop and the Iroquois (Huey) was great in every role the Army assigned it to. The Bradley, not so much.
  
  We still had the M551 Sheridan Armored Airborne Reconnaissance Assault Vehicle in the ’70s, although it was in limited use. My ground-pounding peers in the rest of the battalion liked it (but it was a maintenance and logistical nightmare). Their M113 variant was also loud, slow, and easy targets — no cavalryman’s friend. I don’t recall if it was the M113½ Lynx; probably the M114.
  
  In any case, the Bradley was and is the best IFV ever built. Having never ridden in one as a cavalryman, I can’t judge its virtues in that role. But its shortcomings in one area do not negate its power in its primary design role.

  Reluctantly, I have to agree with CavScout. I started my military career as a19-D in the 49th AD. At first, we were trained & equipped with 113s, which weren’t great, but a damn sight better, in SO many ways, than the Bradley. We were then re-branched & MOSQd as 11-M, which melted well with the BFV. But, as a Cavcout vehicle, it suffers on countless ways.

CavScout;; so do you blame the effectiveness of the vehicle, or the stupidity of the generals? It is a tool to be used in the appropriate conditions of it’s capability; ignorant battle strategy is not it’s fault. I see this as an attempt by obimbo to basically restrict America from being able to establish a power base in ground ops; eleiminating America;s dominance in the Middle East. How about it?

  Not any more. Words mean whatever the speaker/writer means by them, and we poor hearers/readers have to guess what that it. That’s why we have “assault rifles” that can be anything from a J.C. Higgins .22, single-shot plinker to a Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) to an M4 Carbine, to an M60 7.62mm machine gun (as long as it’s scary looking).

      It is “necessary to the security of a free state”. If we do not live in free states (and it’s obvious that we do not), it’s because you and I did not do our duties in regards to the militia; we ignored that bulwark against tyranny. Look what our negligence has brought us.
      
      An armed man is a citizen; an unarmed man is a subject. We who love liberty know this. Our would-be master know it, too.

The Bradley is being replaced anyway by the Stryker vehicle and the Ground Combat Vehicle in 2017. This was in the works even before Obama became president. Compared to the Marines AAV, its smaller, lighter weight, lighter armored, with fewer mission options. When I was giving classes at Ft Bragg to the engineers it was hard for them to get the idea of a full squad, with full gear and explosives in one vehicle. Also the Bradley doesn’t swim or ford streams and rivers well. It was made for a job and is difficult to adjust to others.

I know its splitting hair, but the Bradley M2 is not a “Tank” it is a armored personnel carrier. The military seems to be moving more towards “Wheeled” armored vehicles like the Striker and Grizzle’s like the 2,700 shiney new Grizzles the Dept of Homeland Security just bought to use on American soil, against those pesky domestic terrorist… you know the ones called, “Conservatives” and “Patriots”! In fact Eric Holder has just informed the President that any of these evil conservatives or Patriot extermist can killed via a drone strike in the U.S. with only the order of the President! Don’t have to bother arresting them, putting them in jail or on trial, just send a Hellfire missile into their bedroom, car while driving down the road, or even while sitting in their office!

Out of fairness this appears one sided and could be an example of NIMBY. More information about the military plans for future use of the fighting system and its existing inventory is needed. Every military contractor knows that its contracts are subject to cancellation at the convenience of the government. This is one reason why a premium is often paid for their particpation in weapons procurement. To merely say this is bad without a more detailed examination of all the factors involved is irresponsible and not intellectually honest.Those tools are Barak Obama’s stock in trade and is not the example to be followed. Cost reduction of government is going to result in some programs that are arguably worthwhile being shuttered. I understand the argument that curtailing production for 2 or 3 fiscal years can result in higher costs to the government in the long term but such an argument can be made for most every element of government. Defering medical care for the indigent results in greater costs later but few would argue that much is wasted on those who are gaming the system and that they need to be removed from the system. Does this mean that some deserving recipients will be caught up in the cleansing of the rolls. Sure. That is almost a given. Does this mean that you do not engage in the process? No.

Typical of any Liberal. However, the Bradly is a fighting vehicle not a tank. It is thinly armored and very under gunned to be called a tank. It’s purpose is to move troops across the battlefield while protecting them from small arms fire and fragments from artillery fire.

Hold on.Lets take a more balanced view on this.This is someone at BAE systems that has sent this.Has someone asked if their is a replacement product coming down the line from another manufacturer?…could it be that BAE are angry at not being given a new contract?….The Bradley system whilst effective is showing real signs of its age and upgrades are still not effective enough on direct hits from some of the new modern warheads coming out of the east. I cannot believe that he would cancel this system and not replace it with a new more effective option because there are several available and good to go.When I see the words…canceled and not replaced is when I will get angry and not before.

They want to be elected over and over again. That’s what their goal is in life. I would like to point out that the Bradley has had a history of problems and it’s basically a death trap. Also, no matter who was president it’s likely that they would be replaced at this time. They simply cannot do the job and never could. The Striker wouldn’t exist if the Bradly could do the job. And that this decision clearly was started if not made when Bush was president. Obama bash all you want but USE FACTS. The bradley is not a good vehicle and it never was nor will ever be one. In the first gulf war they had to replace all the transmissions in them quickly just to start the war. In the second Iraq war they were so inadaquate they have been replaced with the Striker. The armor is alluminum and it arisolizes when hit with a shaped charge killing everyone inside that breaths that. It’s armor isn’t strong enough to stand up to basic anti armor weapons nor IED’s. It’s a maintance nightmare too. It’s a hunk of junk that had develpment problems from day 1. They even made a movie about what a hunk of JUNK it is.

Washington’s most influential establishment think tank The Brookings Institution has called upon the Obama administration to implement what is tantamount to a framework of Global Warfare.

According to Brookings Michael E. O’Hanlon, the US should intervene simultaneously through direct military action in both the Middle East and Africa, in two major geopolitical hubs, namely Syria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The concept of waging simultaneous US led theater wars is nothing new. It is an integral part of US military doctrine. It was put forth in 2000 by the Project of the New American Century (PNAC), a neo-conservative think tank linked to the Defense-Intelligence establishment, the Republican Party and the powerful Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).

The PNAC’s declared objective formulated in 2000 was to “Fight and decisively win multiple, simultaneous theater wars” in different parts of the World.

According to Brookings Michael E. O’Hanlon:

“There is a case for more assertive U.S. action in both Congo and Syria…[I]n Syria…the most likely scenario for U.S. troops resembles what the North Atlantic Treaty Organization did in Bosnia in the 1990s. First, we arm the weaker side. Then we support it with air strikes…Using the Bosnia precedent, and allowing for a population four times its size, up to 200,000 foreign troops could be needed in a post-war stabilization effort…

“[W]e can as part of multilateral coalitions that intervene in both Congo and Syria at once.” [sic] (Michael E. O’Hanlon, Brookings Institution, February 2012, emphasis added)

What is being intimated is to “tone down” prevailing non-conventional and covert forms of intervention in favor of conventional theater wars involving the extensive use of air power and the deployment of US-NATO ground forces, under a R2P humanitarian mandate.

Direct military action involving the deployment of tens of thousands of US NATO forces in Syria would trigger conditions of a broader Middle East war, including the possibility of a confrontation with Russia and Iran, namely a framework of military escalation.

Similarly, US military intervention in the Congo, would create conditions for the militarization of the central African region, which is strategic in terms of its wealth of minerals, oil and natural gas.

A military operation in the Congo would also be a sequel to the war on Libya (2011) and the ongoing war on Mali and Niger, which is characterised by the deployment of coalition ground forces under the pretext of a counter-terrorism mandate. What is at stake is the conquest of strategic resources, including gold, uranium and natural gas.

The Congo is contiguous to the Sahel region. Direct US military intervention in the Congo could potentially lead to escalation over a large part of the African continent including the sub-Saharan Sahelian belt, Central Africa and East Africa. This process of global warfare applied to Africa is part of a US military and strategic “road-map”. It is a project of neo-colonial conquest by the US over a vast area.

This military agenda –implemented at the crossroads of the most serious economic crisis in modern history– is directly supportive of corporate interests in mining, energy, oil and gas, not to mention the multibillion dollar weapons industry, namely the US “defense contractors”.

The underlying war propaganda used to justify these military operations hinges upon NATO’s R2P. These operations would be conducted under a “peace-keeping mandate”, “with the full support of the international community”.

“Obama has an opportunity here to revalidate the Nobel Committee’s decision to award him its peace prize four years ago. It’s also an opportunity to show that the 2011 Libya mission, of which the president is justifiably proud, was not a one-off. Now, with his new Cabinet, Obama should seriously explore his options in both these tragic wars.” (Michael E. O’Hanlon op cit)
