Islamic Terror? “Pay No Attention to the Ideology Behind the Curtain”

That is not the number of casualties, but the number of individual attacks. In the same time frame, how many attacks have there been in the name of Christianity? Just give me your top 10, because I know there are a lot to list . . . Timothy McVeigh? No, he was many years ago and his motivation was not based on Christianity. Those “right-wing militia nuts” in Michigan, the Hutaree? Right time frame, but a) they didn’t attack anyone and b) they were acquitted of the charges and released. I’ll let you keep thinking on it…
There are many peaceful people in this world who identify themselves as Muslims. The problem is there is no such thing as peaceful Islam. If you don’t believe me, pick up a copy of the Koran and read it for yourself. So while these folks may call themselves Muslim, they are no closer to walking according to the teachings of the Koran than Joe Biden and Nancy Peloser are to walking under the guidance of Catholic doctrine. I could call myself a Darwinian evolutionist, but if I said that I believe that God created existence and everything in it, I’d be laughed out of the Atheists Club (aka the teachers’ lounge) at every university in this country.
It may very well turn out to be a group of white, evangelical, Christian terrorists who perpetrated this act on innocent civilians in Boston (there had been no arrests made when this article went to publication). We cannot discount any possibility at this time, but it is naïve and disingenuous to pretend that all possibilities are equally probable. Could be that there was no Muslim involvement whatsoever in this act of terror. But if we are honestly dealing with the reality we see around us, we have to admit that would be a surprise.
Imagine that one airline suffered 189 crashes last month and the rest of the airlines combined hadn’t had a single accident. If you heard about an unidentified passenger plane going down over the ocean, would it be reasonable to look to one specific airline first? Why? Because they have a recent history as clear as it is tragic. It is more likely to involve the airline which averaged 6 crashes a day over the past 30 days than the ones which have been crash-free. It is simply a matter of probability and logic, unclouded by ideological presuppositions.
