Jesus Did Not Speak About Abortion Or Gay Marriage

Moreover, if we read about the woman at the well we see Jesus addressing another issue that has plagued the holy institution of marriage. In John chapter 4, He addresses the woman about living water and how those who drink of it will never thirst again. When she asks for the living water, making no mention of anything else, Jesus tells her to call her husband to come over. She replies that she is not married and at that point Jesus addresses her sin:

“You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” (v. 17-18)

Judging from what Jesus said about divorce, he is explicitly addressing the sin this lady has committed and is committing: adultery and cohabitation. Which is ironic because prior to her inquiring about the living water, neither Jesus or her made any mention of a husband. He addressed this issue specifically after she wanted to receive what Jesus had to offer. Meaning our Lord will take us as we are, but He will address every part of yourself that is not in line with His image.

In conclusion, Jesus did not explicitly come out against abortion or same sex marriage. Why? Because he set the bar way higher than that.
