Barbara Walters: Is Kate ‘Too Posh to Push’ and Other Pressing Issues?

After a clear “intelligence failing” (take the “intelligence failing” whichever way you please) on the part of the UK’s domestic counter-intelligence and security agencies, Rimington maintained that, “The community has the responsibility to act as the eyes and ears, as they did during the war … where there were all these posters up saying the walls have ears and the enemy is everywhere.”

Dame Stella admitted that the Allahu Akbar-Woolwich killing was a “terrorist attack” because of the philosophy driving the brutal slaying. Yet Dame Stella still felt compelled to clarify that although “There have often been indications in the community” – here comes the qualification – “whether it’s Muslim or anywhere else” – ah ha! – “that people are becoming extremists and spouting hate phrases.”

Question: When was the last time anyone other than a Muslim extremist hacked another human being to death in broad daylight with a meat cleaver?

The truth is, regardless of what “snoopers’ charter”-supporting Dame Stella says, in the current political climate, unless the snitcher is Barbara Walters, snitching will likely get the snitcher in more trouble than the trouble that awaits any bomb-throwing, hatchet-toting extremist. Moreover, hasn’t anyone grasped that the police state Rimington is recommending is necessary because of an out-of-control immigration policy the British government not only enabled but encouraged?

And here’s the really disturbing part: In addition to ignoring that totalitarianism is being recommended “for safety’s sake”, a clueless citizenry, both in the US and the UK, seem more concerned with the price of Kate Middleton’s Bugaboo. Who cares whether the government is blaming decapitations and dismemberment on freedom? The important issue here is whether Kate and Wills’ baby’s arrival will be formally announced or posted on Twitter.

That’s why Barbara Walters will spend the next few months anticipating the sex of Queen Elizabeth’s great grandchild and why, with the way things are going, one is more likely to be blown up on a double-decker bus in London than to correctly guess whether the royal offspring will arrive naturally or via caesarian.
