Old Days/Old Ways — Lessons to Learn for Our Days

Frankly, I have followed much the same philosophy over the years. Of course, when we were first married I had to succumb to honey-do projects – painting, hanging curtains, moving furniture, shopping, etc. But I minimize that as the years went by and my income went up.  Fortunately, Mom was a good homemaker and fairly handy and willing. By prioritizing my job and certain family events (dinner together, sports, and academic happenings), I was able to get the best of both.

I share this history with you for what it’s worth. Kids are raised with a much different philosophy and sense of values today, and their expectations in marriage are quite different. They want everything that their parents have and more – right from the start. Perhaps that was Mama and Papa’s advantage – their parents didn’t have much – so they were happy with very little and learned to go without.

Think about it!  The Old Ways – in the Old Days – Lessons to Learn?
