 Political Correctness’ War on FUNNY

Comedy_Tragedy_Masks_330EIGHTH:  And speaking of illegals in general, my mom met my dad while he was in America. ….(wait for it)…. ILLEGALLY!  Indeed, Nick Sr. had exceeded his visitor’s visa and was planning on hunkering down in Baltimore’s Greek community just as long as he pleased.  He eventually became legal the old fashion way (marrying into it).   And to this I say:  they should have deported his butt, too, dad or not.   He disrespected and dishonored the arduous journeys and processes millions of fellow immigrants went through to get to the U.S. and helped make this nation as great as it is (more like was).   So it’s not like I don’t have a dog in this whole illegal immigrant/undocumented- PC-whatever-BS-name-de-jour-you-wish-to-call-them fight.

My father was poor and stepped off a boat in Baltimore.  The people in this photo are poor and stepped over a line in the desert  – what’s the difference?   They are still mocking the immigrants who came here the proper, legal way before them.  Hence a deeper, more serious reason a joke can be made at their expense.

NINTH:   And how dare you speak on behalf of all “Hispanics?”   You are just one person out of millions of similar ancestry and ethnicity.  So what you’re therefore saying is that Hispanics are monolithic in thought?   You all possess no emotions, perceptions or opinions different from the other?  Is that what you’re saying?

TENTH:  Finally, just chill the %$@# out!   A mutual Latino friend of ours once jokingly asked me, “If Hispanics had their own lane on the highway, what would it be called?”  I replied, “They already have their own lane.  It’s called the shoulder.”    And he laughed.   He got it and was cool with it, knowing I meant no harm.

I am sure there are Greeks who would be offended by all the gay and “sheep” jokes about them.  And to them I say the same:  “It is bitter people like you who make everyday life just a little harder; who breathe only to see that others feel a little more suffocated.  Why on earth are you taking life so seriously when you’re not getting out of it alive anyway?  Try shutting up and chilling out for a change.” In effect, I’m telling you the same here.   Too bad it’s taken me 1,100 words to do so.
