Mormons Redefine Christianity and Free Speech

MormonMoonMissionaries[1]As Greg Koukl succinctly puts it: “the two religions (Christianity and Mormonism) differ on the basic nature of God, the person of Christ, the extent of special revelation, the fall, man, eternal marriage, the priesthood, the afterlife, the atonement, sin, salvation, and Satan.” In other words, there is virtually no doctrinal overlap between them.

Despite all this, here is the current two-pronged Mormon test governing how we must speak to one another:

1. Mormons are permitted to say that all Christian denominations are false.
2. Christians are required to say that Mormons are Christians just like them.

If you violate the Mormon rules of free speech and dare to criticize the religion that criticizes all others as abominations, you will face a wave of wrath. They will send hundreds of emails to your workplace and call for your firing from TownHall.com!

It is therefore unsurprising that Joseph Smith once destroyed a printing press in order to suppress criticism of his religion. In fact, it got him killed shortly thereafter. Unlike Jesus, he could not raise himself from the dead in the aftermath. No man ever did a work such as that, despite his arrogant boasting.

Joseph Smith’s legacy of trying to suppress all criticism of his unique theology has survived beyond his death. It is alive and well among his Latter Day censors. They never ran away from him yet.
