Remember Hobby Lobby? They’ve made the news before.
They objected to Obamacare forcing them to provide birth control and morning after pills to their employees, under penalty of massive daily fines. Their objections were on religious grounds.
The Federal government claimed that their First Amendment rights had no bearing on their legal obligation to provide medical (as they would claim) coverage of such things as abortion-inducing drugs, contraception, and sterilization.
There was a recent ruling by the 10th Circuit that officially recognized and affirmed the religious liberty of business owners.
Denial of these rights would conflict, the ruling said, with the Supreme Court’s free exercise precedent.
