Vindication for the meat-loving crowd!
It can be hard to keep up with what the current research is, can’t it? Studies single out a kind of food that is especially good for you — sorry, I mean, it’ll kill you — no wait, it’s definitely good for you — that it’s sometimes hard to “buy in” to the research.
But from time to time, the studies vindicate things we’ve personally believed, or at least wanted to believe is true. You know… like this one…
Anyway, it seems they’ve found a “health food” that has been linked to a pretty serious negative side effect. Feel free to gloat in the comment section.
Tofu — according to this study — when eaten in quantity over a period of time, can hurt you.
Quoting the conclusion:
“In this population, higher midlife tofu consumption was independently associated with indicators of cognitive impairment and brain atrophy in late life.”
