Washington, DC Booming! Rest of America? Not so Much

Median income across the entire nation has done almost nothing compared to the median income rise taking place in DC. Conjure an image of Al Gore’s global warming hockey stick graph; the one made famous for showing spiked CO2 levels and you get an accurate depiction of what is going on in Washington. Everyday Americans are trying to survive and DC thrives.

The graph from the Federal Reserve shows income levels across the Nation and DC that have basically mimicked each other from 1984 to 2007/08. From 2008 on however, the DC median income has skyrocketed under the Obama regime while the Nation as a whole has remained stagnant in comparison. While America as a whole was doing “good”, Congress made sure to keep pace and vote or regulate themselves some of that goodness right along with us. Now that we are stuck in a nation of suck, the Animal Farm swine in DC are making sure they are not sucking with us.

Back in April, the New York Times published a graph depicting the increasing wealth gap occurring between white non-Hispanics (their term), blacks and Hispanics. The article, in itself, was an attempt to foment disgust against the evil, white non-Hispanic man whose wealth has increased 6x of those who are black and brown. The time line on the NYT graph covers 1989 -2013 and has the same results as the recent Federal Reserve’s publication. According to both charts everyone was doing better from the 80’s until 2007/08. Incomes were on the rise and unemployment was generally low.

The MSM, liberal and progressive-democrat (but I repeat myself) stayed plenty busy pushing Recovery Summer ’09 – that never happened. While all Americans are still waiting on this recovery to occur, the black and brown Americans continue to do far worse economically and with no trajectory change in sight. Hoax and Chains: Americans were told, but failed to listen.

In fact, the only people not doing worse according to the Federal Reserve report and reality, are those in DC. The average Joe, Jamal and Juan are just trying to stay afloat and hold on to what they have. Things are not better because the parrots keep saying it is. To deny this disaster of a presidency, the blatant failure to lead, one must partake in the suspension of disbelief. Unless you believe his intent is to cripple America, then he is a rousing success.

The recent Census Bureau report shows, after factoring for inflation, the average American family is making about the same as 25 years ago. For the millions like me with just over 20 years till we reach retirement age, that is disturbing news. 401ks took a beating during the financial collapse and if we stay on the same fiscal path, things don’t appear any better for the future. We can’t rely on S.S.

Current retirees struggle to get by on the meager S.S. doled out by our public servants. Public servants that will retire and collect an average annual pension of $71,472. The same public servants who say the Affordable Care Act is good for America yet exempt themselves from the burdensome regulation.

Thanks to a trend Obama started just 10 months into his first term: “For the first time since 1975, there will be no cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, for Americans receiving Social Security checks next year.” (ABC News,Oct. 15, 2009) This hip, new trend carried through 2010 and 2011. The Trolls infesting the DC swamp just couldn’t find it in their hearts to increase S.S. By 1.7%, but found no trouble voting themselves a $4,700 raise in 2009.

The mindless zombies that can only repeat the liberal talking points about how great things are and going to be remind me of stories I heard as a teen. Stories where people would get so wrapped up in Soap Operas they would dress for the fictional weddings or actually mourn the loss of a fictional character in their favorite day time drama. One cant believe people are this naive, or plain stupid, yet they are.

I don’t believe term limits is a realistic option. Who is going to vote themselves out of such a cushy public servant job? The only real way to have change is to once again party like its 1773; and once again enact our own brand of term limits like those imposed in 2010.

Ron Collins was born in '70. Raisin' chickens and shootin' groundhogs by 5. A little bit hillbilly, a little bit city boy, but always an unashamed and politically incorrect American. Best advice he took from his father: 'Find your heroes among American History not Hollywood or the sports arena.'
