I Beg Your Pardon — Obama’s Telling Whoppers in The Rose Garden

Like many of you, even before the Democrats used bribery, back room deals, legislative maneuvers, and outright lies to enact the (Un)affordable Care Act back in 2010, I realized that they and their Dear Leader, Barack Obama had a hidden agenda. The law was never designed to provide “affordable” health insurance to the 15% of people who didn’t have it. It was designed to destroy the system that the other 85% have found, while far from perfect, satisfactory, and infinitely preferable to a government-controlled system. This ridiculous scheme was designed to fail, so that the Left’s 100 year old dream, a Canadian-style single-payer system, would be the “only” solution. Obvious, right?

Watching the catastrophic rollout that began on October 1, I started to question my original evaluation. Destroying the private insurance system to redress the “unfairness” of allowing people who live in those despised suburbs, and who work for evil big corporations to have health insurance when serial baby mamas, their sperm donors, bums and other would-be beneficiaries of “Barack’s stash” don’t is one thing. Failure of the Obamacare system was the only and inevitable option, but was it really supposed to happen during the first three weeks? Is it possible that this whole deal is a very high concept piece of performance art?

It certainly looked that way on October 21 in the White House Rose Garden when Barack Obama stepped up to the podium, with a background of smiling mascot wallpaper, to deliver what the legacy media had promised would be an “explanation” for the enormous gulf between what he had promised (a slick, state-of-the-art website that would allow even your grandmother to shop for and purchase health insurance in minutes) and what he had actually delivered (an unusable, muddled mess cobbled out of ten-year old technology and stolen code at a cost of only $600 million).

The “explanation” left a great deal to be desired. It had only two things going for it. First, I am happy to report that he did not blame George W. Bush or Mitt Romney. Second, our Sham WOW (Walks on Water) current occupant of the Oval Office finally lived up to that moniker in a big way, when, like the original pitchman he gave out an 800# that frustrated consumers could use to access Obamacare. Perhaps I’ve just swerved into another explanation. You may have noticed that Joe Biden has been practically invisible lately. Maybe he was involved in the creation of this fiasco. After all, remember, Joe was the guy who promised during a TV interview to provide the phone number for the recovery.gov website.

Whether you chalk this colossal failure up to performance art, the inevitable result when liberal arrogance triumphs over common sense, or just plain incompetence, one thing’s for sure. It has provided ample fodder for late night comedians. Obama himself engaged in a little comedy during this Rose Garden routine, albeit probably of the unintentional variety.

Consider the following: “Here’s another thing that the Affordable Care Act does.  In states where governors and legislatures have wisely allowed it, the Affordable Care Act provides the opportunity for many Americans to get covered under Medicaid for the first time.

“[T]he opportunity for many Americans to get covered under Medicaid for the first time?” Let me translate that phrase. Congratulations! Good news: you now have health insurance. Bad News: Very few doctors will accept it. Other “opportunities” available in Obama’s America: the “opportunity,” if you are fortunate, to get a part-time, low-paying job, and the “opportunity” to get food stamps.

And the idea is simple.  By enrolling in what we’re calling these marketplaces, you become part of a big group plan — as if you were working for a big employer — a statewide group plan that spreads risk between sick people and healthy people, between young and old, and then bargains on your behalf for the best deal on health care.

Calling the bureaucratic maze that any poor schmoe who has to go there to try to get some insurance a “marketplace” doesn’t change what it actually is. There are no “marketplaces.” Amazon.com is a marketplace. This mess is a marketplace in the same way that Barack Obama is a leader.

So one study shows that through new options created by the Affordable Care Act, nearly 6 in 10 uninsured Americans will find that they can get covered for less than $100 a month.  Think about that.”  (Applause.)

Through the marketplaces, you can get health insurance for what may be the equivalent of your cell phone bill or your cable bill, and that’s a good deal.

Guess what? Someone has to pay for the medical care of the obese, three-pack a day, lazy slobs who are going to show up for their subsidized insurance. They pay less than $100 a month. It’s a “good deal” for them. Who makes up the difference? You know the answer, Serf. And, I’m wondering, if people can afford cell phones and cable, why exactly are the rest of us subsidizing their medical care?

And you can get your questions answered by real people, 24 hours a day, in 150 different languages“.

Who knew that there were 150 different languages? Is one of them Austrian?
