The Glitterati and the Imperial President: Stupid Is As Stupid Does
So many cretins, so little time … Every day brings more and more examples of why one should not do drugs and speak in public. Or, at least why “celebrities” should not buy their own press.
In a world where an endless stream of leftist dogma is promulgated by the mindless, self-absorbed lotus-eaters of the entertainment world, where should one begin? Only last week we had “The Oprah” disgorging America’s racism, as perceived by her, to the BBC for dissemination to the world; while flogging her latest movie venture, of course.
Hot Air shared her race-baiting cant after pointing out that she was a faithful supporter of The Lyin’ King: “There’s a level of disrespect for the office that occurs. And that occurs in some cases, and maybe even many cases, because he’s African American. There’s no question about that and it’s the kind of thing nobody ever says but everybody’s thinking it.” Yes, Oprah the MENSA candidate said “everybody.” Never mind that that The Lyin’ King has sown enough failure to dishonor the universe, “everybody” hates him solely because he is black. To paraphrase Tina Turner, “what’s truth got to do with it?”
But that was last week’s news; this week brings entirely fresh entries choosing to embarrass themselves. Harvey Weinstein elected to share his genius with the world on CNN’s Piers Morgan program over the weekend. His choice of venue demonstrates the value of his wisdom. Film Executive Weinstein is extraordinarily forgiving of The Imperial President’s … ah … let’s call them shortcomings. According to Weasel Zippers: “Weinstein, a big donor to the president, downplayed the problems with Obamacare’s implementation and the … promise that Americans could keep their insurance plans, saying that Obama ‘made a mistake — he’s human’.”
Isn’t it interesting how a deliberate lie, caught on camera on occasions numbering in double digits, is dismissed by Weinstein as a “mistake?” Other incidents of deception, corruption and failure are too numerous to mention but, in the liberal consciousness, they don’t count. Only what liberals want to believe counts. Weinstein doubled down on his BS “This is the only country in the world where we don’t have a health-care…” Clearly, he means single payer health care. He’s even wrong about that but, like the Wizard of Oz, we are supposed to ignore that fallacy “behind the curtain.” Perhaps someone should inform Weinstein that Obamacare would aspire, at its most wishful, to be health coverage. It is not health care. Try getting health care when there are no providers, Mr. Weinstein. Thank your Fearless Leader should that become a reality.
Even some of the dimmest celebutards, like Kanye West (“I’m not gonna mention him no more, I’m past that…”) and Matt Damon (“There are a lot of things that I really question, you know: the legality of the drone strikes, and these NSA revelations … He’s got some explaining to do, particularly for a constitutional law professor.”) are finding reasons to desert The Lyin’ King’s sinking ship. But most will not. They are incapable of open-mindedness and would crumble if their stylish views were ripped from them. Because they “play one on TV” many such feel qualified to foist their tenets on America. Only they are entitled to sway public opinion. When a contrary view, such as those of the stars of Duck Dynasty influence an election (Vance McAllister winner of the congressional race in Louisiana) however, all bets are off’; “personalities” should not, according to leftist glitterati, be permitted to influence elections. Clearly, hypocrisy is not a concept they are familiar with.
Weinstein shared this parting shot with Piers Morgan: “Obama’s not embarrassing — the country’s embarrassing.” He is wrong, as he is about so many things, the first part of that statement. But as long as Americans continue to trust the words of those that can only parrot the words of others, the second part of that statement may be so.
