Presenting: The United States of Sodom

So A&E decided that Phil Robertson’s speaking the truth about sin wasn’t for them. Some have cheered it and others have jeered it (as have I). And while the incident alone might not seem like a big deal, in the bigger picture it is a fitting event that demonstrates how the nation has become the United States of Sodom.

Some have sneered at the outrage over the A&E reaction to Robertson. “Don’t strict Constitutionalists understand the First Amendment allows A&E to fire its employees?” they have asked. Of course we do. We also understand that the First Amendment allows us to jeer A&E and their idiot supporters.

At the same time, does anyone really think that society would tolerate an employer firing a sin-supporting employee? Of course it wouldn’t. In fact, society flat-out hates Christianity.

A judge recently ruled that a Christian baker must do business with sodomites who wish to pretend to marry. This Christian baker could go to jail if he refuses.

In other words, an employer can fire an employee for his Christian beliefs but a Christian business owner isn’t allowed to choose with whom he wishes to conduct business.

The one-way application of the First Amendment doesn’t stop here.

The federal government is so obsessed with promoting sin that it forced the armed forces to accept those who engage in sodomy. The Obama regime gleefully did this and it even is reinstating / re-accessing those who were discharged for breaking the former law . . . all the while it cuts law-abiding troops in order to shrink the overall size of the armed forces.

And the government wants to go further than this. It wants to make it illegal for anyone in the private sector to oppose Big Sodomy. Barack Obama wrote a piece for The Huffington Post in November insisting that, “Congress Needs to Pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.” Rabbi Aryeh Spero at CNSNews.com (“Senate Gay Rights Legislation is Bad Law,” December 20) explains just what this Orwellian-sounding legislation would do if it becomes law:

With the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), the heavy hand of government would come down on those small business owners. Government lawyers would give them the following choice: Surrender your beliefs or we will sue you into financial oblivion. The courts have done this, and worse. In Denver last week, a Colorado judge ordered the baker to pay a fine, each time, or go to jail; and in New Mexico, a judge, back in August, ordered similar for the photographer. (Reminds one how Pharaoh jailed the baker and bartender).

We have seen this strong arm tactic countless times before. In the name of someone demanding what he labels his civil rights, others are forced to give up their fundamental rights and, worse, forced to actively do what they cannot in good conscience do. Many of the cases government or trial-lawyers deliberately pursue in the name of civil rights are but concocted and imagined rights, while the fundamental right of religious liberty or the right of conscience against government coercion is ignored. Basic and fundamental Constitutional rights, indeed actual First Amendment pillars, are assigned irrelevant status by liberal activists when pitched against the zeal of certain groups wishing to impose their will over others.

Pennsylvania is one of the latest battlegrounds for the sin lobby at the state level. Republican Governor Tom Corbett announced that he wants to make it illegal for employers to fire anyone who pretends to be of the opposite sex. And Pennsylvania State Senator Daylin Leach is proposing legislation that would make it illegal for religious schools to fire people who are utterly anti-Christian. Pennsylvania also is the focus of media attention because the media wants to make a martyr out of defrocked United Methodist pastor Frank Schaeffer. Schaeffer believes he has the right to rewrite UMC rules and God’s law so that sodomy is righteous.

But perhaps the best way to illustrate how far the nation has fallen into evil is to think of all that the everyday American accepts with barely a shrug of his shoulders even as the rulers of society swiftly meted out punishment on Phil Robertson for supporting Christianity.

Barack Obama’s regime supports al-Qaeda and its affiliates in Syria, secretly negotiates with Hezbollah, continues negotiating with the Taliban for U.S. surrender in Afghanistan, continues jihading throughout the rest of the world, actively works with Mexican drug cartels in human trafficking, threatens international relations with the promotion of sodomy throughout the world, normalizes sexual immorality in the United States, sanctifies abortion, advances Marxism, and commits other unspeakable acts of evil.

America has completed its transformation into a God-hating nation. We are now the United States of Sodom.
