I would like to take a moment to talk to all of our loyal Clash Daily readers and give you some quick updates on what is happening in Crimea and in Ukraine.
While negotiations and international inspectors are being mobilized, Russian troops continue to flood into the Crimean Peninsula. The Russian troops have blocked off all Ukrainian Military Bases in Crimea. These troops have been trapped in these bases for more than a week now and still refuse to give up the bases to the Russian forces.
Up until the other day Russian forces were allowing families to come see their Ukrainian Military members and bring them food and necessities. However, this has now changed. Russia is tightening their grip on the region and now these troops are cut off from their families and friends. Last I heard there was no functioning landline phones and internet. Ukraine Telecom is reporting that their service is being interrupted. Their only mode of communication with their families and friends are via cell phones. Ukraine’s cell phones operate differently than ours here in the USA. Their phones are based off of phone cards that have a certain amount of minutes on them.
I have been closely following and writing about the situation in Ukraine and I have heard from some people close to the Crimean incident that are saying troops are running low on minutes and they can’t exactly run to the store to get more. I am putting together a relief effort to help get phone cards and maybe some small comfort items to these brave men of Ukraine. Let’s show Ukraine that we support them in their fight for freedom and self governance.

I have spoken to a Ukrainian phone company who has told me that they can get me the cards for as low as 1 cent per minute.
Together we can do something that seems small but will show the Ukrainian people that we do care and America takes care of her friends and allies!!!
