JUST SAY NO: 5 Reasons to Refuse Obama’s Amnesty

Recently, President Barack Obama requested nearly $4 billion to address what he and his mouthpieces have taken to calling the “humanitarian crisis” at America’s southern border, a teeming horde of illegal aliens, some of whom are “UAC’s,” unaccompanied alien children. This scheme makes about as much sense as every other plan he’s trotted out; in other words, none. For the following reasons, the answer to this request from Congress shouldn’t be “No.” It should be “hell no!”

Nothing in Barack Obama’s proposal will solve the actual problem, specifically the current invasion of illegal aliens from Central America, and generally the failure to enforce our immigration laws.
If a pipe bursts and floods your house with water, would you respond by getting every towel that you could find in your house to sop it up without turning the water off? Apparently, Barack Obama would, and he wants us to pay for it. Before we start throwing wads of cash at this problem, we need to turn off the spigot. Obama wants to give $1.8 billion to the Department of Homeland Security to house and feed these illegals! I’ve got a better idea. Let’s spend that money to charter some planes and ship them back to their own countries.

The 2008 law that Obama apologists keep citing is not applicable to these children.
I know what you’re saying. “They can’t do that, Teri. Didn’t you hear Sec. Jeh Johnson of the Department of Homeland Security explain that the reason they can’t is because of a 2008 law that George W. Bush signed?”

Right, because if you can say one thing about Barack Obama, it’s that he scrupulously follows the law. Suddenly, the man with the powerful pen and phone, who can choose to ignore enacted statutes or unilaterally amend them when it suits him, is worried about violating a law? Are you kidding me? He can use “prosecutorial discretion” in 2011 to allow illegals to stay in the country. He can grant amnesty to the so-called DREAMER’s  by fiat, in a transparent pre-election gambit, in August, 2012. He can’t, though, use his “discretion” here?

Actually, he can. This 2008 law, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, was actually just a reauthorization of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, originally signed in 2000, by Bill Clinton. After being reauthorized in 2003, 2006 and 2008 (when it was renamed), it lapsed in 2011. It was revived as an amendment to the Violence Against Women Act, and passed in 2013. This law requires any person hoping to take advantage of its provisions to have been “trafficked,” which doesn’t mean paying a human smuggler several thousand dollars to help you illegally enter the United States. So, even if the Obama administration gave a flying fig about the rule of law (it doesn’t), it could easily deport these invaders without violating the William Wilberforce law.

Of the $3.7 billion he is requesting, only $25 billion will be spent this year, and all of that is allocated to the Department of Health and Human Services. None of it will be spent for border enforcement or repatriation this year.
Sen. Jeff Sessions has reported that under Obama’s plan, only $25 billion of the money he’s requesting would be spent this year, and NONE of that will be allocated to the Department of Homeland Security. ALL of it is going to the Department of Health and Human Services! Now, a cynical person might say that he’s asking for these funds to help pay for his ridiculous health care scheme, which is going to need a huge infusion of cash because all of his lawless, unilateral waivers of the mandates have completely messed with his brilliant plan to fund it.

This “crisis” was created by Obama for cynical political reasons. The Obama administration and Democrats in Congress have known since 2011 that this problem was getting worse and chose to avoid it because taking action might damage prospects for “comprehensive immigration reform” (read amnesty).
More than two years ago, in May, 2012, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) wrote a letter to Barack Obama, begging him to spend a few minutes away from golf, vacations and fundraising to notice what was becoming a serious problem on the southern border. He wrote “Inaction encourages other minors to place themselves in extremely dangerous situations. . . .Every day of delay risks more lives. Every child allowed to remain encourages hundreds more to attempt the journey.”

The Obama administration knew about this growing problem, and so did members of Congress, who started hearing about it in 2011, but they didn’t address it. The reason is the same reason they have for living and breathing: partisan politics and their insatiable hunger for power. From the Washington Post:

Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-Calif.) said Democrats recognized the urgency but feared that if they raised too much of a public outcry, it would create political blowback for the Obama administration’s push to pass a comprehensive immigration overhaul. Democrats worried that the escalating border crisis would help Republicans make a case that the administration’s policies had failed, Roybal-Allard said.

“That was always a concern of mine: How to address the issue in a way that did not detract from the need for comprehensive immigration reform”,

she said. (emphasis mine)

Even Cecilia Muños, formerly of La Raza, and now Obama’s director of the White House domestic policy council, admits that the geometric increase in the size of this mob of alien invaders was fueled by the perception that amnesty is on the horizon. Whether that expectation is accurate, there is no doubt that Barack Obama’s reckless, and politically-motivated use of his infamous “pen and phone” to grant amnesty to the so-called DREAMERs in August 2012, fueled this belief.

The DREAMERS, “children,” who could be as old as 30, were brought here “through no fault of their own,” and so should not be deported, the Democrats say. By that logic, any criminal with children should be given a reprieve from prison. After all, all children are affected by the behavior of their parents. If a child’s parent goes to jail, doesn’t that child suffer “through no fault of his own?” Of course, he does, but that’s not an excuse for not enforcing the law.

As a result of Barack Obama’s direction to the Department of Homeland Security in 2011 to use “prosecutorial discretion,” followed by that infamous August, 2012 Deferred Action for the DREAMERs, officials expect a lot more of these uninvited guests. According to the Washington Post, 3933 minors from Central America entered the country in 2011. This year, we are expecting 90,000, all of whom will rush into the open arms of Border Patrol agents, eager to get their “permisos.”

Barack Obama is AWOL.
In the last 2 and 1/2 weeks, Barack Obama, who supposedly wants to “do stuff”, has not been reaching out to members of Congress, not even ones of his own party. Instead, he has attended 9 partisan fundraisers. Is this the way that a president who wants to pass legislation behaves? It appears that he wants to just put in his regal demand for an endless supply of cash from taxpayers for his many worthy projects, right before hitting the road to accumulate an endless supply of cash from rich campaign donors.

Earlier this month, while collecting big checks in Austin, Texas, he was a couple of hundred miles away from the southern border, but he couldn’t even take an hour to go see what his disastrous policies have caused. And he wants you to give him $3.7 billion? At the risk of sounding like one of those cynics I mentioned, it’s almost as if he wants to create a divisive issue that he can use as a political cudgel rather than solve a problem.

Despite what was said by the Senate Majority Leader, who is apparently either blinded by ideology or in the early stages of dementia, the border is not secure. We should not give this lawless megalomaniac one penny until it is.

Barack Obama is using these children as kiddie human shields in a hideously cynical way to advance his plan to “remake” America. It’s time to just say no.
