Right off the bat is my disclaimer, because this obviously does not apply to all Texans out there. I am, however, addressing the softie-in-name-only-Texan. As an example, as I have mentioned times before, the husband and wife Texas-white-bread born and raised neighbors of mine. Both possess a CHL (concealed handgun license) yet they both are just as politically unaware as the average Southern Cali is.
See this posted signage (picture included) on our property? Yes, a lot of you have probably seen these signs and some of you probably own a sign like this too. But did you hang em’ on your fence(s)? Or do you have the signs just leaning on your fireplace mantel, giving a good chuckle to visiting neighbors, friends and family? Well my signs are on my fence gates, all three and I mean what they say.
I am not a native Texan, but like Ted Nugent, whom I have quoted before said, “I wasn’t born here (in Texas) but I got here as quick as I could.” I am proud to be a Texan, even if by transplant. Button-poppin-proud to be exact! What an awesome history belongs to those called Texans. I have the privilege to tread the same soil where the likes of Davey Crockett, Sam Houston, James Bowie of the Bowie knife fame, William B. Travis and others lived, loved and took their final stand at historic battles like the Alamo.
Then there are the Wildcats from the oil boom era, in oil rich Texas. Those who possessed the spirit of “go strong or die trying.” Our space flight history – kick’n Russian butt in the space race– all wrapped up in NASA.
Texas is a land worth fighting for then and now. Actually, America is a land worth fighting for, damn it! The shape shifting hordes invading our land today may not be a uniformed Mexican army with red feathers atop their hats as was at the Alamo. No, today they are issues of unreasonable rules, laws and regulations, aka tyranny, that we are facing which are just as troubling, menacing and deadly.
We Texans have issues on the state and local government levels that deserve just as much concern, self-sacrifice and participation from us, as those of long ago. Our current existing battlegrounds are immigration, the welfare state conditions, regulations on oil drilling and exploration, and our 2nd Amendment rights, etc. Then, locally in Houston our lesbian mayor (turning Houston compliant-blue a little at a time, without much resistance) passed legislation that would make all public bathrooms in our area, gender-neutral, Oi-vey! (see my article: http://clashdaily.com/2014/06/houstons-toilet-wars-appeasing-special-interests/#h5UqBeOwKCMYvCsV.01)
On the national front: As a nation we are being ruled, yes ruled – not governed — by idiots!
Every day the current White House occupants supply us journalistic fodder to write about. Now Harvard educated First Lady Michelle Obama told “attendees of a naturalization ceremony Wednesday that the Founding Fathers weren’t born in America.” What is she eating or smoking out of that garden of hers? Texans, are going to have to buck-up, man-up, stand up and speak up! Or Texas will turn into another blue-Cali, and instead of flying the Gonzalez “Come and Take It” flag, y’all might as well put out the white flag of surrender and say “come and take it, it’s yours” since you have forgotten your Texas kick-butt roots.
