FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) — A South Florida man remains behind bars five days after, police said, he repeatedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend on board a Broward County Transit bus.
According to officials, 23-year-old Junior Normil stabbed the victim in the neck and shoulder area, Sunday night. Surveillance footage captures the subject getting on the bus and sitting down in a window seat. Moments later, he is seen looking back to see ex-girlfriend Jacquelyn Steenkamer and her new boyfriend, Daniel Babcock Roberson.
Normil told police he “snapped” after he spotted the couple, adding Babcock Roberson started laughing at him. He told investigators he then took a knife from his bag and walked up to the victim. Steenkamer is heard screaming “no” as Normil began stabbing her new boyfriend over and over. Passengers were captured screaming and running out of the bus upon seeing the blade.
According to the police report, Normil stabbed Steenkamer “over and over until he was no longer moving.” The report further states he told investigators the victim is lucky to be alive.
