DESPITE PLUNGING APPROVAL RATINGS, Obama’s Arrogance Continues to Grow

President Obama’s approval ratings took a nose dive this week in the CNN/ORC poll with his overall approval rating dropping to 45% from 48% in April. Yet he continued his effort to build his legacy declaring that under his leadership the United States is once again “the most respected country on Earth” due to his economic and foreign policies.  With 52% of the population disapproving of President Obama’s job performance, the President is now less popular than George W. Bush was at the same time frame in his presidency.

Although Obama continues to receive a 50% approval rating on both the economy and race relations, the public is growing increasingly dissatisfied with his handling of the ISIS situation. According to the CNN Poll which was conducted May 29-31, 63% of those surveyed disagree with his handling of ISIS, an 8 point drop since February. This should come as no surprise given the president’s unwillingness to even utter the words radical Islamic terrorism.

Furthermore, a 50% approval rating on both the economy and race relations are not statistics to brag about.  The May 5.5% unemployment rate and the addition of 280,000 new jobs sounds very positive, until you peel back the numbers. The 5.5% does not reflect the number of people who have stopped looking for a job or who are employed in part-time jobs for economic reasons. When you factor these individuals in, the true unemployment rate is closer to 12%.

Furthermore wages only grew 2.3% in May, far below the 3.5% that Federal Reserve wants to see before they raise the Prime Rate. Let’s bear in mind that the Prime Rate, the rate at which consumers borrow money, has remained at a historically low level of 3.25% since December 2008.

As far as race relations goes, recent polls demonstrate that race relations have worsened under the first Black President.  According to a CNN/ORC poll taken in February, 45% surveyed said that race relations have worsened under Obama. No doubt, his injecting himself personally as “a black man” in the Ferguson case played a role in this statistic.

Once again Obama is demonstrating that his arrogance tops everything else. He even selectively chose data to make the claim that that United States is the most respected country on Earth.  Obama cited a Gallup poll which was released on April 21, 2015 and was based on 2014 data as his supporting evidence.  The poll, surveying 1,000 adults from more than 130 countries, asked respondents whether they approved of the leadership of the United States, Germany, The European Union, China and Russia. The United States finished first in this poll.

Yet, the BBC also conducted a  study between December 2013 and April 2014 where a total of 24,542 people were asked to rate 16 countries and The European Union on  “whether their influence on the world was “mostly positive” or “mostly negative”.  In this poll, the United States came in the middle for a “mostly positive rating”, behind Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, The European Union and Brazil, and ahead of China, South Africa, South Korea, India, Russia, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan and Iran. So in other words, the United States is hardly the breakout winner for the “most respected country” prize.

Furthermore, Obama’s use of hyperbole was on steroids this week.  He reportedly told his advisor David Axelrod that he was practically a Jew. “You know, I think I am the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office,” the president claimed, according to Axelrod. “For people to say that I am anti-Israel, or, even worse, anti-Semitic, it hurts.”

I guess someone should share that information with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After all, President Obama refused to attend the Prime Minister’s March address of Congress. Furthermore, he ignored Netanyahu’s concerns that a nuclear deal with Iran could be a death sentence for Israel. Incidentally, Obama’s approval rating among Jews has plunged from 77% in 2009 to 54% in 2015.  Apparently, the Jews aren’t ready to adopt him.

President Obama is clearly out of touch with the concerns of the American people. It is patently obvious that he is more concerned with building his legacy and creating positive public relations moments for himself than he is with fighting terrorists, improving our economy or maintaining the US status as a world super power.

2016 can’t come soon enough. Apparently the 44thpresident has already checked out.
