UPDATE 4 PM: A massive police presence can be seen near Roman and Arts Streets as the vehicle, believed to have been driven by the suspect, Travis Boys, was spotted in the area. Police are telling residents to stay indoors. People are advised to avoid the area.
NEW ORLEANS – A police officer was shot and killed while driving a prisoner to Orleans Parish Prison Saturday morning, leading to a sprawling manhunt for the suspect and a search for an answer to the question of how the incident happened.
Police Superintendent Michael Harrison identified the suspect as 33-year-old Travis Boys, who was arrested hours earlier on suspicion of aggravated assault. The officer was identified as Daryle Holloway, a 22-year veteran of the department.
