Jeb Bush is among the abnormally-crowded field of egocentric players who are running to be the top dog of our country. It seems that he may have adopted a new and slightly unusual strategy on how to get ahead during the debates– avoid Donald Trump at all costs!
The deep thinking folks of the POLITICO Caucus are comprised of operatives, top activists, and strategists. Strategists? How is running away from a person with your tail between your legs a strategy?
One New Hampshire Republican advised, “The old maxim applies, never wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it”. Well come August 6th, Jebby will have no choice but to confront his demons, and not just one, but eight others as well when Cleveland hosts the first of the debate series.
Trump has the presidential wannabe shaking in his penny loafers as Trump has been critical of Bush since he first announced his candidacy. Insiders are insisting that Bush not engage in petty slandering and back biting to try and help shape his image. Another New Hampshire Republican claims, “With Trump being Trump he will be the news of the debate 24/7 and no one else will break through, this helps Bush by keeping anyone else down in the pack.”
It’s hard to believe that there is anyone willing to actually give Jeb Bush advice — let alone support his candidacy for President. I don’t know of a single person in conservative or Republican circles that would consider voting for him. The establishment can try and give the perception that Jeb is a winner, but it would really be a repeat of the last two debacles known as McCain and Romney-gate.
But the “experts” leading the tribe of RINOs still insist that they know best, “Jeb Bush needs to introduce himself as a serious leader for serious times to a large and curious audience. I hope he stands next to Trump on stage. The comparison in knowledge, depth, and quality will be apparent in the first 15 minutes,” assures an Iowa Republican.
The problem that these “amazing minds” seem to be leaving out is that nobody wants another Bush or progressive ideologies and policies. Jeb is for Common Core and Illegal immigration, so liberals love him.
Another New Hampshire Republican suggested the old trick of bringing up a Ronald Reagan tactic saying, “They all need to remember that Reagan’s classic ‘there you go again’ line (to Jimmy Carter) was delivered not with a snarl and a smirk but rather with a smile and a shrug.” Just because a candidate brings up a Ronald Reagan quote in a speech or claims to be like him doesn’t mean that he is. Jeb Bush is most definitely not a Ronald Reagan.
Trump may not be serious competition for many of the candidates running, but frankly neither is Bush. No matter what the polls and “insiders” say, nobody wants him. But you have to admit, it is a little entertaining watching ‘ol Jebby shaking in his loafers.
