There is no safe profession anymore – especially with people using cops for target practice now.
(Inform) A police officer was shot and “several” other people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a standoff at a convenience store that was still under way in Sunset, Louisiana, authorities said.
Louisiana State Police Brooks David told NBC News that the number of victims and the extent of their injuries couldn’t immediately be determined.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz told The Acadiana Advocate newspaper that the officer had been shot and that two people had been stabbed at a separate location. Guidroz told the newspaper that the gunman could be heard coughing from inside the store after officers tossed in tear-gas canisters.
He was not believed to be holding any hostages.

One police officer was wounded and taken to a hospital after a shooting Wednesday in Sunset, Louisiana, State Patrol Master Trooper Brooks David said.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said the male suspect is in custody after he barricaded himself briefly in an Exxon station after driving his car through the front door.
Three people in the store escaped and there were no hostages, the sheriff said.
Two people were stabbed at a home several blocks from the store where the Sunset police officer was shot, the sheriff said.
