STOP POLITICIZING EVERYTHING: Not Everything Is About #BlackLivesMatter
In a terrible story out of Maryland, a young man lost his life while attempting to protect his mother from a deranged boyfriend. The story is terribly heartbreaking and moved me to tears.
The mother had been dating the attacker for a short period of time, and she said that she was trying to help him. During an argument, the boyfriend grabbed a knife and barricaded himself with the mother in the bedroom. Her two young sons managed to get into the room, and asked him to leave. According to court documents, that’s when he lost it, and stabbed the older brother on the shoulder, while hitting Keyshaun on the chest. Keyshaun lost his life shortly thereafter.
This is a terrible, heartbreaking story, yet I have already noticed individuals attempting to politicize it. I’ve seen several posts asking the question: “Where are black lives matter?” I think this is unfair.
This is a terrible situation, and thankfully the criminal is being held without bond, on murder, and attempted murder charges. That man should be put to death without hesitation. However, why attempt to tie this with, or attack black lives matter because of this? This was a domestic situation, where the victims happened to be black. The black lives matter movement, though I am sure would empathize with this family, deal with an entirely different matter altogether.
I think that it is unfair to attack them because they are not marching on behalf of this case. The criminal is going to get what he has coming to him. However, tragic as this is, it is a domestic matter and is already being prosecuted.
Allow me to give you folks a piece of advice: you have to be fair, if you wish to be taken seriously.
