This happened over a year ago, but the teachers are just now being charged for it.
When Kenner police arrested Respess on Oct. 1, 2014, Chief Michael Glaser said investigators had “no doubt” both women had sex with the student at Respess’ apartment, and that Respess had “almost” confessed to the deed. Glaser said Respess corroborated what the student told investigators about the sexual encounter. Both Dufresne and Respess were booked with carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Respess’ defense attorney, Jeffrey Smith, hasmaintained his client’s innocence, and he cryptically stated earlier this year that she never had “consensual sex” with the student. Now the only formal charge against Respess is failing to report the commission of a felony.
