WE THE PEOPLE: What Would America’s Founders Think of Ted Cruz and Donald Trump?

We the people.

Now, finally, a Presidential candidate emerges in the tradition of the Founders.  His record is clear.  He hasn’t swayed in the breeze.  He didn’t find his true inner conservative just in time to file with the FEC.  Ted Cruz has been an immovable granite mountain amidst the swirling winds.  Time after time after time, he has stood against the forces of tyranny to defend the Constitution of the United States.  And the forces of tyranny have lined up against him.

The media are against him.  Not just the “liberal” media, but most of the “conservative” media as well.  Pop culture despises him and never misses an opportunity to slander him.  His own party attacks him at every turn.  Even supposed friends.  Even fellow “conservatives” in the party are barraging him.  Yes, even fellow “Christians” like Mike Huckabee have displayed their true colors by slandering the one true conservative who has a legitimate chance to bring victory and hope to “we the people.”

There can be no question who John Adams, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Ben Franklin would vote for.  Would they agree with Ted Cruz on everything?  Certainly not.  They couldn’t agree with each other on everything.  But they were men of principle.  Men who loved liberty more than life.  They pledged their lives, their fortune, and their sacred honor.

Ted Cruz stands squarely in the tradition of our Founders and for that reason he is hated.  Ted Cruz is a man of the people — a true principled statesman, not a pop-culture reality TV star with his finger in the air.  He has been a stalwart defender of liberty, often at personal cost.  Often alone.  While the Founders would most assuredly look at Donald Trump with utter contempt, they would welcome Ted Cruz into their closest circles.  Of that we can be confident.

But, the Founders are gone.  They cannot vote and they cannot fight for Ted Cruz, though they would if they were alive.  And while they are not physically present, I can still hear them speak on his behalf.  What are they saying?  “We the people!”

Friend, what are you doing?  What about your life, your fortune, and your sacred honor?  As our republic slips away, where are you sacrificing in order to save it?  What hobby or comfort have you laid aside for the time?  What will you be able to say to your children and your grandchildren?

I won’t beg you.  Either you see it or you don’t.  But for those with eyes to see, I say to you: This is our time!  Get in this fight!  WE THE PEOPLE, must step forward with all we have to save our country.

God help us.
