ALL HAIL GAEA: She’s More Important Than YOU

Recently I saw an article in the local newspaper claiming that the number of people who believed in climate change (a.k.a. global warming) has increased in recent years, despite the fact the Earth is actually undergoing a period of global cooling. Such a poll is likely to be the result of the liberal media’s biases, just as is the case with the Presidential election polls (which the media claims favors Hillary) or the polls on the issue of gun control (which the media claims more people favor stricter gun laws). But despite the consensus on global warming, people need to realize that science is determined by the evidence, not by opinion polls.

But what really got my attention in the article was an individual who claimed that the issue of global warming was a more important issue than abortion as far as the American public was concerned. Aside from potential media bias, this statement reveals the link between environmentalism and abortion. Why? First, if global warming is a bigger issue than abortion, than naturally less people will be concerned about abortion (something pro-abortion supporters will like to hear, and actually want to happen). Second, environmentalists and their fellow leftists have a tendency to be in favor of abortion, because they view having babies as being harmful to the planet.

One particular leftist who comes to mind is Toni Vernelli, a former coordinator of operations in Europe for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). According to the website Discover the Networks, after Vernelli learned she was pregnant, she had an abortion in order to reduce her carbon footprint. But having an abortion was not enough for Vernelli — she wanted to be sterilized so that she would never again make the “mistake” of getting pregnant. The doctor who performed the abortion refused to sterilize her, so she had to look elsewhere, and succeeded. “Having children is selfish,” Vernelli stated. In fact, she went on to say that, “It’s all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet. Every person who is born uses more food, more water, more land, more fossil fuels, more trees and produces more rubbish, more pollution, more greenhouse gases, and adds to the problem of over-population.”

So there you have it. Environmentalists and certain other leftists (e.g. animal rights activists, pro-abortion supporters) do not value human life. Their efforts have contributed to under-population (particularly in the West).
