Hillary’s medical incident at 9/11 observances in New York City was highly informative.
Her camp claims she “became overheated” – are they saying she had a heat stroke or something? I’m not sure how overheating would have happened. In Maryland the weather was beautiful on 9/11; it was literally one of the nicest days we’ve enjoyed in a while. Our weather is often similar to New York’s and the footage coming out of the Big Apple didn’t suggest it was an exceptionally hot or humid morning. But, “she became overheated”. How so? It’s not as though she was engaged in strenuous, demanding physical labor. She was attending a 9/11 observance.
Undeniably, Hillary experienced a medical episode of some kind and, thanks to the video, Hillary’s adherents in the media can’t dismiss it the way they’ve dismissed pictures and video of Hillary’s other, recent medical episodes. For example, when the proof was a picture of Hillary being helped up stairs in February of this year, pundits claimed that it was February and icy and slick outside as the primaries then were focused on New Hampshire and Iowa – left out was the fact that Hillary was being helped up steps near Charleston, South Carolina* which a) also held a primary in February and b) Charleston doesn’t get icy, slick, or really all that cold even in the winter compared with more northerly places. Besides, her camp has admitted that something happened even if their explanation is the mysterious “she became overheated”.
Once she was assisted into her van (was it her infamous Scooby Van?), the decision was made to take her to Chelsea’s apartment. At face value this seems odd. Considering that a medial issue of some kind had just rendered her unable to remain at a 9/11 observance – and the optics of Hillary attending the observance no doubt ranked high on her campaign’s messaging priorities list – the judgement call to rush Hillary off to Chelsea’s seems unusual. Unless:
– You’re a member of the Hillary Clinton inner circle and you worry that the optics of your chosen candidate for the White House being rushed off to a hospital won’t play well this close to election day.
– Chelsea’s apartment was pre-selected as a nearby location Hillary could be diverted to in the event something happened. For all anyone knows, there might have been a team of doctors and other emergency responders staged in Chelsea’s place just in case something like this went down. Who knows, pre-staged medical response teams might be a standard protocol afforded all candidates for the Presidency.
– Or, it could be that Hillary Clinton has a diagnosed medical condition and regularly suffers from its effects. In that scenario, Chelsea’s apartment would have made a comfortable, private place, for Hillary to do whatever it is she has to do to cope with the effects of her condition, rendering a hospital unnecessary.
Maybe bits and pieces of all three of the above items explain what actually happened to Hillary Clinton in New York on September 11, 2016. In the meantime, it’s fair to ask: if she’s unable to make it through a 9/11 observance how in the world can we trust she has the stamina to sit across the table from other world leaders and produce results favorable for Americans?
We’ve seen the damage a self-described lazy President can do. Do we need to experience of the damage an infirm one to show us what she can’t do?
* Indeed, the South Carolina low country is a regular winter destination for snow birds uninterested in Florida. By February, the region experiences chilly evenings (temperatures in the low 40s and upper 30s) and warmer daylight periods (temperatures ranging from the 50s to the mid-60s).
