What will the NSA look like with Michael Flynn at the helm? Well, if his speech is any indication… We can expect BIG changes.
Here’s one of his speeches. He’s got some pretty tough things to say about Islamism.
“We are facing another ‘ism,’ just like we faced Nazism, and fascism, and imperialism and communism,” Flynn said. “This is Islamism, it is a vicious cancer inside the body of 1.7 billion people on this planet and it has to be excised.”
Forgotten in the discussion about Islam is the POLITICAL side of the equation. Is it a religion? Sure. But it is a religion with an explicit set of rules on how to set up a government… which makes it different from a lot of other religions (including, say, Christianity) which sets out moral values without declaring an explicit preference for any one particular form of government.
People use the religious freedom aspect of Islam as a shield against having specific and awkward conversations about the Political consequences of their religion.
Here’s where things get dicey. Their politics and religion have NO separation … and to suggest there ought to be such a separation would offend many devout muslims.
This puts people in an awkward situation. Is it ok to criticize a system of government that has within itself unjust laws? Of course! What happens when those unjust laws are inseparable from a religion? Is it STILL ok to criticize it? Especially when they have powerful (and lawyered-up) lobby groups backing them … like CAIR?
This brings us back to Flynn. After 8 years or more of American officials pussyfooting around this problem, afraid to offend anyone, we finally have someone who can confidently state that the ideology itself — and anyone who subscribes to it — is antithetical to fundamental American liberties and our way of life.
