It’s the end of 2016, and Michelle said (between scoffs) that America has ‘lost hope’. Do you think 2017 will be better or worse with Trump in the White House and the Obamas out of it?
The AP-Times Square Alliance Poll of 1,007 adults shows that Michelle is wrong.
(But we already knew that.)
The year 2016 took a toll on Americans with emotionally wrenching politics, foreign conflicts and shootings at home. But a majority believes things are going to get better for the country next year, a new poll has shown.
Only 18 per cent of Americans said things for the country got better in 2016 while 33 per cent said things got worse and 47 per cent said they remained the same, according to the Associated Press-Times Square Alliance poll.
But they remained optimistic about 2017 on a personal level.
Fifty-five per cent said they believe things will be better for them in the coming year – a 12-point improvement from last year’s poll.
‘Next year will be better than this year, because people will have more jobs and they’ll have more money to spend,’ said Bourema Tamboura, a Harlem resident behind the wheel of a New York car service.
‘I’m hoping 2017 will be better,’ added Elizabeth Flynn, 62, an elementary schoolteacher from Peabody, Massachusetts. ‘You’ve got to be optimistic, and I’m going to try.’

– the US will be an ally of Israel instead of a pawn of Iran
– a First Lady that is proud to be an American
– trans-bathrooms won’t be the major issue (ahead of Islamic Terror) in 2017
– a President who won’t be spending the nation’s money on vacations/improving his golf game
– there will be more jobs and less red tape instead of vice versa which is what we currently have
– actual effort to enforce existing immigration laws
– The Wall
– the death of the Media (D)
– the Obamas out of the White House
