The group of 8 or 9 border-crossers ran off when he yelled.

The number of illegal border-crossing has spiked in the last few months.
The number of undocumented immigrants being apprehended on the U.S. southwest border has nearly reached the levels of the 2014 summer border crisis, driven particularly by families, officials say.
The influx stems from an increase in migration from Central America, Haitian nationals from Brazil and Cuban nationals, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). There has also been an increase in the number of people seeking asylum at the border.
The total number is up over 100 percent from last year for the months of October and November…
…“The Border Patrol is dedicating a tremendous amount of resources taking those folks in, processing them,” newly appointed Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan said at a recent congressional hearing. “At times [a] lot of resources are dedicated being professional child care providers at this point.”
He said the humanitarian activities are affecting law enforcement’s ability to perform its national security mission. “I am taking a considerable amount of resources and agents away from the border to [t]ake care of this,” he said…
…Last month, 7,406 children were apprehended, up 10 percent from October.
In November, there were 15,573 family units apprehended. Family units saw a peak of 16,330 in June 2014. May was next highest with 12,772 families being apprehended. Apprehensions are used as an indicator of the total number of attempts to cross the border illegally.
