DEAR CNN: Retired Cop Points Out A POWERFUL Detail In Ft. Lauderdale Airport Attack
This retired NYPD cop caught something in the Ft. Lauderdale photos that most people have missed, and it’s INCREDIBLE.
Rob O’Donnell posted about the Fr. Lauderdale shooting and the police response and he’s overwhelmed with the reaction he’s getting.
O’Donnell is a big supporter of Law Enforcement officers and has quite a number of pro-cop posts on Social Media.
He had a lot to say about the recent shooting in the Ft. Lauderdale airport:

One post, however, went crazy on Twitter approaching 19K Retweets and over 36K Likes.
Ft Lauderdale: I see black/white/latino/male/female/child/adult all with one thing in common. A Police Officer risking all to protect them. pic.twitter.com/efUdWzj9IJ

He’s had quite a bit of support, like from this New York Senator:
This picture sums up how incredibly selfless our first responders are throughout our State and our Nation, support our #CommunityHeroes https://t.co/gHNgPPNgMY

Others… eh… not so much:

@odonnell_r Also I see a wall which protects them as well.

@TexasEagle1961 @odonnell_r would you like to give him a medal because he was completing the most fundamental purpose of his job? Lol

O’Donnell says he’s tired of the ‘cop bashing’ and stresses that there is no official police directive that tells officers to put themselves in ‘imminent physical danger’, yet that happens all the time. And they do it to protect lives.
He told Independent Journal Review that as an NYPD homicide detective he attended “a dozen of my friends’ funerals after 9/11,” so he knows the gravity of the job and its sacrifices:
“My wife was 7 months pregnant when 9/11 took place, [she] begged me to come home because I said my goodbyes to her and my son. I did this to help strangers of all races, colors, and creeds.
This is what we do. Are we 100% perfect? Absolutely not. But because 0.02 step out of line, why are we all police the targets? This is exactly what the BLM and such are against: profiling. Why is that stereotype OK but the fact via the FBI, that a black male is 9 times more likely to commit a violent crime, and that his victim is most likely to be black, not?”

Finally, O’Donnell told Independent Journal Review:
The message is the true facts that I’ve seen in my 25 years in law enforcement: all lives matter. Always have, always will.
