LEADING FROM (HIS) BEHIND: 10 Things We HATED About The Obama Administration (Part 2)

For most of us, January 20, 2017 can’t come soon enough, bringing with it the end of the Obama Regime. Last week, I began to list the reasons why, including Obama’s relentless obsession with alleged white racism, his contempt for the rule of law and the snubbing of trusted long-time allies like the United Kingdom and Israel. As one commenter noted, that list barely scratches the surface, to which I reply, “Oh, yes.” No, make that “Oh, hell yes!” There is so much more we won’t miss, but this week in Part 2 of this series, I want to focus on Obama’s pathetic handling of world affairs.

Let me sum it up: it has been amateur hour in foreign policy.

When Barack Hussein Obama infamously referred to ISIS as the “JV team”, was that yet another example of liberal projection? I think you can make a pretty good argument that it is. After all, if there’s ever been a JV foreign policy team, it’s Team Obama. Consider some of his brilliant foreign policy “achievements:”

The Disastrous Libyan Intervention
In April of 2016, during an interview on Fox News Sunday, Barack Obama admitted that failing to plan for “the day after” the 2011 U.S. Intervention in Libya was the biggest mistake of his presidency. Whether you agree with that evaluation, (and if you don’t, it’s understandable—after all, arguably the Obama presidency has been one gigantic mistake), it is a stunning admission. For over 10 years, we have seen legions of media chin pullers falling all over themselves to tell us how brilliant Barack Obama is, in the absence of any evidence of that fact, and substantial evidence to the contrary. Why would this exceptionally intelligent man do something so incredibly stupid as to depose a leader, admittedly a dictator and a bit of a whack job, without knowing what would come next?

Now, Libya is a terrorist playground, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced, and the country is effectively without a government. Islamic extremists control much of the country. Benghazi, a town you may have heard of, is controlled by the radical Salafi militia Ansar al-Sharia, which is designated a s terrorist organization by the U.S. government. We know now that the Obama Regime lied about the murder of four brave Americans in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, blaming a virtually unseen YouTube video, and even arresting its maker, to cover for this breathtaking foreign policy failure.

Balk Like an Egyptian
In a similar very foolish and poorly thought out move, also in 2011, Obama decided that Egyptian president Mubarak had to go. Egypt, and Mubarak, had been friends and allies of the United States, but B. Hussein wanted to throw in with the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist supporting organization that advocates the imposition of Sharia law everywhere on the planet. The Muslim Brotherhood’s president, Mohammed Morsi, was ejected by the military due to his Islamist abuses. In 2014, the Egyptian government declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization and charged Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, in criminal complaints, with conspiring with it. Ousted former president Morsi remains imprisoned facing sentences ranging from 20 years to death for a variety of crimes ranging from leaking state secrets, conspiring with foreign armed groups and trying to organize a prison break. Obama showered the Muslim Brotherhood-led Egyptian government with praise and foreign aid, and thereby damaged another relationship with another important ally. This decision was deliberate, another ideologically-driven bad move from our “America is always wrong” president.

The Syrian Red-line That Wasn’t
In August, 2012, Barack Obama said “We have been very clear to the Assad regime, but also to other players on the ground, that a red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized. That would change my calculus. That would change my equation.” Apparently, the One is not very good at calculus or equations because after he made the statement, the Assad Regime did indeed use chemical weapons, and there were no consequences from the United States. The Syrian civil war has resulted in 400,000 deaths, and millions of displaced people flooding into Europe. Barack Obama has worked overtime to try to import as many unvetted Syrian Muslims into the U.S. as he can, and continues to do so to this day. Meanwhile, Obama’s alleged solution to the chemical weapon problem, a deal in which Assad would turn over his chemical weapons stock to its patron, Russia, hasn’t worked out so well. The United Nations concluded that twice after that 2013 deal, once in 2014 and once in 2015, Syria used chemical weapons. So much for those red lines.

The Iran Deal Disaster
Barack Obama has used a word that should terrify every patriotic American to describe the Iran deal that he was so desperate to implement: “historic.” The Obama administration claims that this 2015 arrangement would stop the Iranian mullahs, who still lead their people in “Death to America” chants at every opportunity, from getting nuclear weapons. The reality is that it will do just the opposite, and that is intentional. The Iran Deal was less about making the world secure and reducing the threat of nuclear annihilation, and more about ideology; specifically, Obama’s naive and historically-ignorant leftist belief that Iran had been mistreated by imperialistic America back in 1953, when we allegedly deposed Iran’s Prime Minister in favor of the Shah. Because of this long ago act of imperialism and—wait for it—racism, America not only has no right to stop the world’s number one terror regime from getting nuclear weapons. It has the obligation to facilitate it. Such is what comes from silly, childish, ahistorical bumper sticker ideology, like that of Barack Obama. As bad as this deal was on its face, now we learn from a U.N. watchdog that Iran was given exemptions from what it agreed to do in a secret side deal. What will we learn next? What else is the Obama Regime hiding?

Fortunately, because Barack Obama decided to forego those icky legalities that have constrained other, and obviously lesser, presidents, the Iran Deal can be undone, although it won’t be easy. We can only hope that President Trump and the grown-ups he will have along with him to conduct our foreign policy can restore our standing in the world, and clean up the mess caused by Obama’s “lead from (his) behind” foreign policy. Somehow I don’t think he’ll be telling other foreign leaders to “cut it out.” “Peace through strength” will return.

Next week, Part 3 in our list of the ten things we won’t miss when Obama’s presidency is mercifully over.
