Conservative Provocateur, Milo Yiannopolous, is a staunch defender of Free Speech. His speaking tour was cut short when a bunch of fascist anti-fascists smashed and burned things.
A new bill to protect Free Speech on College campuses in Tennessee is going to be filed on Thursday after 2 years in development. A press conference will follow.
The bill is officially titled ‘Tennessee Freedom of Speech on College Campus Bill’ but will informally be known as ‘The Milo Bill’.
According to a source involved with the press conference, the bill would stop events from being cancelled based on “harassment” if the “harassment” could simply be defined as an opposing point of view, and will boast a variety of other features that seek to protect students who have opposing beliefs to that of their college or its administrators.
“In view of recent events concerning Milo Yiannopolous at The University of California at Berkley and elsewhere on other college campuses, it’s important for us, as a state, to step up and protect basic First Amendment rights,” said Representative Martin Daniel, who will be holding the press conference on Thursday, in a press release. “We should encourage all forms of lawful speech and expression, even if controversial or disagreeable. This is what makes America great.”
“In Tennessee, the First Amendment does not stop at the campus gate,” he continued. “We can’t allow politically correct policies to smother free speech. Courtesy and civility, while encouraged, can never trump basic constitutional rights. Tennessee’s institutions of higher education should prepare our students for the real world, and encouraging expression of all sorts of viewpoints is essential to that objective.”…

And that’s not all. Conservative speakers have faced overt harrassment on college campuses from the ‘Tolerant’ Left for years.
Ann Coulter, Ben Shapiro, Christina Hoff Sommers, etc. have all faced massive protests. Some have been disinvited to speak on campus.
The over-the-top political correctness is so rampant on college campuses that 3 speakers with wildly differing views covered the issue in thier respective 2016 commencement addresses. The speakers were President Barack Obama, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and former NYC mayor, Micheal Bloomberg.
When addressing Rutgers University, Obama referenced the student protest over the choice of 2014 Commencement speaker, Condolezza Rice:
“The notion that this community or the country would be better served by not hearing from a former Secretary of State, or shutting out what she had to say — I believe that’s misguided,” Obama said. “I don’t think that’s how democracy works best, when we’re not even willing to listen to each other,” he continued.
In his address to the University of Michigan, Bloomberg said:
“The fact that some university boards and administrations now bow to pressure and shield students from these ideas through ‘safe spaces,’ ‘code words,’ and ‘trigger warnings’ is, in my view, a terrible mistake,” he said. “The whole purpose of college is to learn how to deal with difficult situations — not run away from them.”
At Hillsdale College, Justice Thomas focussed on personal responsibility, but still touched on PC culture:
“Do not hide your faith and your beliefs under a bushel basket, especially in this world that seems to have gone mad with political correctness,” he said.
Thomas also appeared to take aim at critical individuals.
“Sadly today [it seems] that grievances rather than personal conduct are the means of elevation,” Thomas reflected.
Right now, in America, conservatives are being called ‘facists’, ‘racists’ and ‘white supremacists’ just because of who they voted for.
And some didn’t even really want to vote for him.
The level of political discourse has devolved on the left to namecalling and violence.
Why? Because the Liberal elites have hailed ‘Political Correctness’ as the saving grace of culture.
Perhaps a little dose of raw disagreement will do America some good.
Like Milo, I am hopeful that this will correct what is wrong with colleges.
To use an analogy from The Matrix, it’s time for college students to choose the ‘Red Pill’.
