If you watch to the end, you get to see her reaction to where she think this trail of breadcrumbs will lead. And a hint as to what kind of consequences she thinks should be forthcoming.
CNN, predictably, has their panties in a bunch. It would be different if Nunes had a (D) after his name. But he doesn’t. So they went straight to their standard response.
Did CNN lead with THIS in their story about Nunes?
Nunes later told CNN’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper” that “President-elect Trump and his team were put into intelligence reports.”
“Clearly there is a lot of information in the reports that I’ve seen, which were dozens, that would lead me to believe that the last administration and numerous agencies had a pretty good idea of what President-elect Trump was up to and what his transition team was up to and who they were meeting with,” Nunes told Tapper.
Nah. It was in there. Buried toward the bottom. They led with this:
Nunes hurried to the White House to personally brief Trump on the revelations, after talking to the press but without sharing the information with Democrats. His Democratic counterpart on the committee — Rep. Adam Schiff of California — warned that his colleague had cast a “profound cloud” over their effort to investigate Russian attempts to interfere in the election.
Is there any doubt what emotion in the reader they are explicitly trying to evoke here? Nunes isn’t to be viewed as a heroic whistleblower shining a light on the fact that Personal Privacy rights that should extend to EVERY citizen are being ignored by their government.
No. They throw in value-laden words like ‘profound cloud’. And they’re supposed to be straight-arrow unbiased news.
Just throw this in with all the other examples. Put it in whatever ‘deplorable’ basket of evidence against CNN’s alleged journalistic integrity that YOU use to keep score.
Yet another branch of government being Weaponized against its own citizens in the Obama Presidency? Why would THAT be newsworthy?
For all their bleating about dictators and police states, you’d think this news would be more interesting to them.
