What are they up to this time? They want to confiscate your hoop earrings. Because Earrings belong to Women Of Color. And for a white person to wear it is oppressive.
Oh really..? THIS guy didn’t get that particular memo.
Surprise, surprise … this story took place on a campus.
White women accused of cultural appropriation have been told to scrap their ‘hoop earrings’ after a group of Latino college students complained that ‘black and brown folks’ were being exploited by it.
A group of students, identifying themselves as women of color, wrote, ‘White Girl, take off your hoops’ on a ‘free wall’ used for unmoderated free speech at Pitzer College in Los Angeles, California.…Martinez wrote: ‘The black and brown bodies who typically wear hooped earrings, (and other accessories like winged eyeliner, gold name plate necklaces, etc) are typically viewed as ghetto, and are not taken seriously by others in their daily lives.
‘White people have actually exploited the culture and made it into fashion,’ she added.…’Because of this, I see our winged eyeliner, lined lips, and big hoop earrings serving as symbols as an everyday act of resistance, especially here at the Claremont Colleges.
‘Meanwhile we wonder, why should white girls be able to take part in this culture (wearing hoop earrings just being one case of it) and be seen as cute/aesthetic/ethnic.

Are they so VERY starved for culture, relevance, and identity that they have to busy themselves with attacking other people?
Do they wear jeans? Yoga pants? Rubber-soled running shoes? Do you hear anyone ELSE bitching about it when they do? What about Basketball …? It was invented by a white guy from Canada.
Does that mean inner-city kids shouldn’t play it? Don’t be stupid.
Do you ever see white people complaining about appropriation? No. Do you know why? Because when other people take OUR ideas, and make them their own, it’s a compliment to us for having that idea in the first place.
Maybe they could try the free exchange of ideas.
Or if they are so very hung up on cultural appropriation? Then maybe they can stop appropriating the political ideas of that ‘Dead White Guy’, Karl Marx.
Until then, the ladies will continue to wear whatever the hell they please.
