A recent news report from Red Right videos states that a citizen journalist was arrested and removed from an open meeting of the state affairs committee for recording the meeting in accordance with state law. The report quoted Texas state law as:
According to the Texas Government Code Sec. 551.023, Recording of Meeting by Person in Attendance:
A person in attendance may record all or any part of an open meeting of a governmental body by means of a recorder, video camera, or other means of aural or visual reproduction.
It was reported that it was ordered by Bryon Cook, chair of the committee.
I submit that as soon as she was forcibly removed Amy Hedtke should have made a citizen’s arrest on the officer for kidnapping, and a complaint should have been made/presented to the County Sherriff and an arrest warrant issued.
Since the “encounter was supposedly videotaped” someone in Austin County needs to file kidnapping charges against the police who removed her. I would have made a posting in the comments section, but they only allow “Facebook” comments to be made and I refuse to join a hard left wing organization.
Where or who has the courage to file charges. It was an unlawful arrest and the arrested person quoted the law before they removed her.
Send this to your State Reps and the Sherriff’s office and demand that charges be filed.
I am sending a copy to the chief of police of the City of Uvalde in the hopes that he will forward to the Sheriffs of Uvalde and Travis counties.
Please feel free to buy extra copies of this newspaper to send to your state representatives and to your local Sheriffs offices.
