Only days after we learn about yet ANOTHER drop in national SAT scores, we get a window into what the real priorities of teachers are.

SAT scores drop, even as number of students getting A’s rises
The Harvard Graduate School of Education found that nearly half (47%) of all high school students in 2016 had an A average on their report cards, compared to 38.9% in 1998. Meanwhile, their average SAT score fell from 1,026 to 1,002 on a 1,600 point scale.
Public Schools are passing out A’s like they’re free condoms. But SATs are dropping like a stone.
And what are teachers doing about it? They’re doubling down on indoctrination. Three hundred teachers teaching K-12 went to THIS conference:
The “Reimagining Education Summer Institute” conference, organized by Columbia University’s Teachers College, was held in mid-July and concentrated on “opportunities and challenges of creating and sustaining racially, ethnically and socio-economically integrated schools,” according to its website.
One presentation, called “Whiteness in schools,” provided “a history of Whiteness, and will invite participants into a discussion of how Whiteness and White culture shapes what happens in schools,” according to a description.
One workshop discussed “3 ways to face white privilege in the classroom.” Presented by Teachers College postdoctoral fellow Jamila Lyiscott, a summary of the workshop states it included “activities and critical dialogue around White privilege to connect personal responsibility to pedagogical possibilities for the classroom.” –College Fix
Yes. In the face of failing objective results in the classroom, they are focussing on… race.
…And a workshop on “Teaching for Social Justice” sought to challenge colonialist and racist pedagogies.
…There was also a “Deconstructing Racial Microaggressions” workshop in which attendees pledged to address racial insults at their schools.
…Other workshops touched on topics such as using hip hop as a form of therapy in schools, instituting restorative justice for student discipline and examining segregation and desegregation.-College Fix
Where is Betsy Devos on this? This is why we need to fast-track school choice. We need to know which schools are politicizing themselves and avoid them like the plague.
