Trump Administration Enforces Immigration Law — Criminal Charges For First Offenders

When you actually enforce the laws on the books, people aren’t so keen on breaking them. Imagine that.

The Trump administration has been spectacular with keeping the promise of enforcing immigration law.

Illegal border crossing is down dramatically.

The DOJ strategically sent out immigration judges to fast-track deportations.

Illegal aliens are so concerned that they’re ‘self-deporting’ now.

And now, it’s not just deportation.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that illegal aliens that are first-time border crossers are facing criminal charges.

First-time offenders until recently were deported instead of being criminally prosecuted.

That changed as of June in the Tucson Sector, which includes most of Arizona’s border with Mexico and which has already seen the prosecution of 565 first-time offenders, the agency said in a news release on Thursday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says immigrants are charged with misdemeanors and tried in federal court under Operation Streamline, a 12-year-old initiative in which migrants are charged, enter pleas and are sentenced within a few minutes in large groups.

It’s not like they’re being sentenced to death or anything. It’s a misdemeanor charge. And they generally get time served unless there are ‘aggravating circumstances’.

But of course, like anything that involves enforcing immigration law, there are critics.

Critics of Operation Streamline say it burdens the courts and results in migrants going through more dangerous routes to avoid getting caught. The Border Patrol says it decreases recidivism.

That makes sense.

If you’re caught crossing once and you have to face criminal charges, what’s going to happen if you try to come back a second time?

It looks like the new strategy is working, though.

A recent docket for Operation Streamline, which takes place in Tucson several times a week, shows that 58 immigrants were tried on Thursday. About 35 were first-time offenders who were charged with improper entry. The rest were migrants who have previously been caught at the border and were charged with illegal re-entry.

Lost in the debate on how ‘compassionate’ illegal immigration is, is the effect of the erosion of our legal system.

Why not pick and choose all sorts of laws?

What about all the people from all over the world that are trying to come into the United States legally?

And if you attempt to discuss that Leftists will say that you ‘don’t like brown people’, as though the issue is about race.

For them, it is.

You don’t hear them saying that the white folks from Canada trying to escape their socialist hellhole should be able to cross the border illegally, do you?

Enforcing immigration law is what is fair.

For everyone.

Thanks, President Trump, for keeping your promise on Illegal Immigration!

Make America Great Again!

Share if you think that criminal charges for illegal border crossers makes perfect sense
