Trump visited the Boy Scout Jamboree.
He talked a little about the Boy Scout Law or the Virtues that make up Scouting, giving great attention to loyalty.
Boy Scout Law
A Scout is:
Trustworthy,
Loyal,
Helpful,
Friendly,
Courteous,
Kind,
Obedient,
Cheerful,
Thrifty,
Brave,
Clean,
and Reverent.
He happened to make an offhand reference to Barack Obama.
“By the way, just a question: Did President Obama ever come to a Jamboree?” Trump asked, reaching out his hands to elicit boos from the audience. According to the BSA, Trump is the eighth of 11 sitting presidents to make an in-person appearance at a Jamboree, with Obama appearing by video in 2010.
Maybe it was this oath that kept him away:
Boy Scout Oath or Promise
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Between that and the Scout law, it’s no wonder he stayed away.
‘Thrifty’ alone could have got him in trouble, building more debt than all the previous Presidents in history combined. To say nothing of ‘God and my country’.
Trump had fun visiting these guys. He really did. You can tell.
And like he said — he’ll be back.
