Look How Much Cash DiCaprio, The Kardashians, Miley & Others Are Giving To Harvey Relief Efforts

We all enjoy giving Hollywood elites hell, don’t we?
So let’s look at what they’ve done for Houston so far.

There’s no love lost between Hollywood and fly-over country.

Every agenda THEY are trying to push repulses us. And the things WE fight for turn their stomachs. Like unhappy roommates locked in a lease, we’re kind of stuck with each other.

That’s just how it is… we are worlds apart. But sometimes.. just sometimes…

We forget all of that and manage see each other as un-hyphenated Americans.

Republicans rush in to help when a Liberal city is in trouble, and Democrats organize their energies when a Red State city is in trouble.

It’s called Being American. We used to love it before we let our politics splinter us into special interest groups with lists of grievances.

And, for the moment, the Big Names in Hollywood and elsewhere have put aside their favorite hobbyhorses and have turned their attention to Americans in need.

So, credit where it’s due, they’ve really stepped up.

On Monday, Leo had tweeted about the terrible flooding taking place in Texas and Louisiana as a result of the hurricane and encouraging his fans to support the Red Cross.
The 42-year-old Oscar winner was the first to make a donation to the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund, before Miley announced that she is set to make a major donation to the organisation.
The 24-year-old singer announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her Happy Hippie Foundation have donated $500,000 to the cause.
‘I’m really happy to help in whatever way I can,’ Miley said, holding back tears.

Sandra Bullock gave a cool $1M to the Red Cross.

Kardashians gave half a million.

Kevin Hart tagged some celebrities in a challenge to give $25k each, and to tag friends to the same. People like The Rock, and P Diddy.

Ellen DeGeneres and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt have been raising funds, too.

It’s good to see that, however harsh we can get in crossing swords over politics…

To see that when the chips are REALLY down, we’ve still got our humanity.

Maybe the President’s description of us as being “one people” under “one flag” still rings true after all.
